to feel unsettled about this teacher and pornography?

I'm a regular but I've name changed because I don't immediately want the school to be identified.
On a school trip, the son of my dd's teacher had degrading porno pics on his moblie. Another boy asked where he'd got them from, and he said- "They're my Dad's, he has a pile of mags and I photoed them".
This is hearsay- passed on by another boy to his Mum.
The teacher in question was my 10/11 year old dd's teacher, a small class with pre pubescant girls.
Another Mum said it was a free world and he's entitled to look at porn, which I agree with, but it still makes me feel uncomfortable.

The boy may have been fibbing.

The teacher's wife taught at the school too, and he sometimes put her down in front of people too, which I didn't like atall at the time.

Now I'm interpreting things in a different way of course.

How would you react?

Our dd has left now anyway, but it bothered me at the time.

why are you giving it so much (err, rather detailed) headspace ?

it is absolutely none of your business

teachers are people too, not above a bit of porn and/or putting-down of wives

he sounds like a bit of a dick

but he is not your dick

Tamarto · 13/05/2009 19:03

"And it did make me think that he may look at these girls differently I suppose."

What else does that mean?

SusieDerkins · 13/05/2009 19:05

Are you suggesting that your daughter or other children are at risk because the teacher may possibly look at porn?

If so, why?

If not, why is it any of your business?

cameraobscura · 13/05/2009 19:06

Tamarto- it means he likes looking at females behaving like dogs, ( who may or may not like behaving like that)

OP posts:
Tamarto · 13/05/2009 19:07

females or pre-pubestant girls? there is a world of difference!

AnyFucker · 13/05/2009 19:08

camera, you are digging a huge hole here

what the hell are you on about?

do you have a problem with doggy-style sex?

you are sounding very weird now

< backs slowly away >

SusieDerkins · 13/05/2009 19:08

Blimey - I didn't realise doggy style was a freakish/pervy/porno

Noonki · 13/05/2009 19:09

Teachers can look at porn as long as it is not of young people

but I do agree that looking at porn affects the way you view people, the few times I seen pornos I end up imagining all sorts of things for the next day or not (admittedly not with children)

If he had left it lying around that too would be worrying

but it is all circumspect so I wouldnt worry. My 12 year old dss described a girl in a bikini as porn the other day so they are not really a good gauge of degradation iyswim

cameraobscura · 13/05/2009 19:09

No- I've never mentioned risk- it made me readjust my thinking of him.
And I bet it would for any of you too.

But as I said earlier, I don't like him, he puts his wife down, and I reckon the picture of him wanking over girls sticking their bums at him with their coy fingers in their mouths just banged the nails in the coffin.

OP posts:
SusieDerkins · 13/05/2009 19:11

You said "unsettled" and that implies something much more than "readjusting" your "thinking".

cameraobscura · 13/05/2009 19:13

Tamarto, er, my daughter is female.

Didn't mean doggy style, mean demeaning generally.

Noonki, you're the firtst person to say that on this thread and I appreciate it.

I'm not worried, it just made me think about him slightly differently.

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 13/05/2009 19:13

you don't like him, that is plain

thank God you name-changed

some men's lives and reputations have been trashed with just this kind of speculation

you sound sick to me

or a troll

SusieDerkins · 13/05/2009 19:14

Well said AnyFucker.

sigh..OP you are further proof that there are parents out there that expect their children's teachers to not smoke, drink, make jokes, talk about parents, shout or in fact be normal people but to either be robots or have shining halos. They just can't win.

cameraobscura · 13/05/2009 19:15

Susie, does it? Unsettled thinking, I don't think so. But yes, I was unsettled.
So?
I never acted on it.
I never showed this was how I thought about him.
Although I suppose it showed when he put his wife down that I thouight he was a prick.

anyfucker, that is surely the beauty of somewhere like mn. That it can be discussed.

You're now implying I was speculating and trying to "trash" his life.
Never.

Love you name btw.

bruxeur · 13/05/2009 19:19

You do realise that your behaviour here on this thread is worse than anything you've said he's done, don't you?

What does that make you?

Tidey · 13/05/2009 19:19

I think your dislike of this man has blown up a whole different set of issues. Maybe because you already disliked him, you're more inclined to believe any horrible things you hear about him.

Unpleasant man > Not very nice to his wife > Looks at porn > possibly looking at children.

I'm not saying this is a reasonable or logical progression, but not liking someone could possibly encourage your imagination to get a bit out of control.

nickytwotimes · 13/05/2009 19:20

Ffs!
Personally, I hate porn for feminist reasons, BUT it is this person's private life. Just becasue he is a bloody teacher does not mean he lives the life of a monk.

He may be an arsehole, but this has nothing to do with it.

TheLadyEvenstar · 13/05/2009 19:21

Spice,
I have moved everything errr "adult" into the safe and change password on laptop every few weeks lol....no more prying eyes here...mind you i don't look at porn

lil · 13/05/2009 19:22

camera what you are saying is you don't like men who look at porn because you think they put down women. So why the comment about "prebubescent women?"

This should be a general statement, not focussed on one man because he is a teacher with all the implications of paedophilia. Teaching needs more men not less but I don't blame them for keeping clear with their every move being twisted to make them sexual deviants!

cameraobscura · 13/05/2009 19:23

It becomes a parent's business if dcs are seeing his porn.
Shineoncrazydiamond, anyone can look at anything if they keep it private or don't let it get into kids hands.

cornsilk · 13/05/2009 19:23

What exactly did he do to put his wife down then? You've mentioned it loads of times.
