I ended up buying dd a lovely pair of light blue eccos from the boys' side.

Pink shoes so limit the dressing palatte . . .

its so pc to object to pink - your child might grow into katie price shock horror all based on child shoe choices

YANBU - drives me mad. Not only pink but incredibly decorated. I know they don't where them for long, but cleaning them is a pain - not that I do very often!

I have 2 dds and neither of them are currently wearing pink shoes

I can't remember the last pair that were, actually

You need to step away from the chains and find some of the independent shops

My dd had navy blue boys closed toe sandals at one point.

I never used to buy her shoes unless the colour had a matching shoe polish. Nothing worse than lovely coloured shoes which are all scuffed in the toes. Therefore my dd only ever had shoes that were either navy or black. She did have doodles for summer though as I could bung those in the washing machine and they came up like new.

We shop at two lovely independent shoe stores, not the chains. But somebody is making product design decisions that involve a lot of . . . pink.

I don't mind pink, but I usually only buy one pair of shoes at a time for dc (£££). I really enjoy dressing dd and find that pink shoes don't match a variety of colours as well as blue ones.

Boys' shoes nowadays seem to have more colour variety than girls'.

I don't really consider whether the shoes match the outfit with mine, tbh... I waste too much time in the morning fretting over my own wardrobe choices to fanny around with theirs

And they both look like scruff-bags within 10mins of dressing anyway, so it suits them to be unco-ordinated!

Dd has her first pair of pink shoes (well, sandals) as far as I can remember and she's 13! She's had white, red, black, brown, purple, blue, allsorts over the years.

Even her wellies are always green so her brother can inherit them the following year .

Baisey · 11/05/2009 15:29

This is why I can never find any boys shoes in the right size!! Because the pink objectors (quite right to) have took them for their girls lol
At least you get a nice large choice of pink, hot pink, dusty pink, mauve, purple, lilac, etc.

pinkstarfish · 11/05/2009 15:45

I've seen rather a lot of non-pink girls shoes, brown, red, purple, white, blue, navy (yes, navy!)

YAB a bit U.
