Plz help. I want to know once the cafcass report is prepared and both parties have got it what happens next? I have read it on the net then you have a court hearing and the court decides
But also on net I have read that cafcass hold a meeting with both parties with the solicitor. Cafcass go through the report, after that if you are okay with the report they then get you to sign an agreement. So there is no need for a court hearing. Is this true?

At any stage you can make an agreement without going into Court. The court prefers both parties to do this, rather than impose something on them. So if you and your ex can agree arrangements between you then no, you don't need to go to court.

we got called in by cafcass into a seperate little room.. who then sat us down.. I wasn't represented.. and exH was, but his rep didn't go in..
and then she had a chat about what was in the report ( but we had already seen it), so we went over issues that came up from there. we had a chat about what we could do about some of those issues.. and then we went into the hearing.

where I said my bit.. his rep said his bit.. judge asked some questions.. cafass spoke her bit.. and it was all sorted.

you will be really worried I know.. but it isn't actually that bad.

saleena · 10/05/2009 17:20

thank you very much finger cross for tomorrow

that's okay.. hope it goes okay for you.

If I can give you a tip.. try and leave your over emotional bit at the court door. ( really hard I know).. and if it creeps up on you.. take a drink of the water that's there. .

BCNS · 11/05/2009 19:50

Try posting a new thread in the legal section clearly setting out the background to your involvement with CAFCASS and explaining what the current problem is.

devonshiredumpling · 24/10/2011 23:35

can i be dumb and ask what cafcass is

Cathycomehome · 24/10/2011 23:37

What is CAFCASS? Sorry, if that's nosy, I've never heard of it.

Cathycomehome · 24/10/2011 23:37

GypsyMoth · 24/10/2011 23:39

It's court social worker

ZillionChocolate · 24/10/2011 23:51

Who are we?
Cafcass looks after the interests of children involved in family proceedings. We work with children and their families, and then advise the courts on what we consider to be in the best interests of individual children.

niceguy2 · 25/10/2011 09:54

How did it go Saleena?

RantyMcRantpants · 25/10/2011 11:06

Niceguy this is a post resurrected from 2009, I very much doubt the OP will answer.

niceguy2 · 25/10/2011 11:22
