to have told my mum to leave my sisters phone alone?

I went to visit my parents last night. My 16 year old sister still lives there, and had gone to a friends house but had left her mobile phone at home by accident. My mum picked it up and started trying to read the texts! I was completely shocked and told her to stop it immediately! My sister is 16, she has had boyfriends, she is about to leave school and is allowed to drink under supervision and go to a nightclub if she has one of her older sisters with her. She is a really sensible girl who does very little of the usual stupid teenage stuff, or at least if she does it she does a remarkable job of keeping it under wraps. Luckily my mum wasn't able to operate my sisters phone and i refused to tell her how to do it. I would have been outraged if my mum had done the same to me at her age. Now, do I warn my sister what I caught my mum doing? I'm in a weird situation as a grown up daughter, as I tend to hang round with my mum more and talk about childrearing and suchlike with her, and i think my sister thinks I'm embarrassing and old, but I still feel that I should stand up for her her.

I think you were right to tell her to leave the phone alone but I wounldn't tell your Sis what she was doing.

Maybe you could gently suggest to your sister that she shouldn't leave her phone lying around if it has personal stuff on it? It could be she wouldn't be bothered by your mum reading her texts (though I personally view it as an invasion of privacy).

I think you need to warn your sister to keep her personal posesions close at hand though not sure if you should spill about your Mum being nosey

Mu Mum used to regularily go through my letters and such once leaving my packet of Pills on my bed to let me knoe SHE knew. I have had to stop her being nosey when near my brothers desk as well, it is very hurtfull
