..to think that Ed Balls could have waited until the current Year 6 had done their science SATs before announcing they were being scrapped next year?

Our Year 6 children were coming in this morning furious at the announcement that Science SATs are to be scrapped next year - particularly those who have brothers & sisters in Year 5 who have been winding them up.

They were asking why they had to do a test that the government obviously thought wasn't worth doing.

They spent the literacy lesson venting their anger by writing some very eloquent letters of complaint to Mr Balls, which were sent off this afternoon, but making this announcement just a few days before the test is not exactly going to motivate them to try hard, is it?

I thought the same. I have a Dd in yr 6, and a Dd in yr 4 who delighted in winding her sister up this morning.
