lack of imagination.

goodnightmoon · 07/05/2009 21:45

yeah isn't there some stupid volvic 14 day challenge ad. your mission: drink water.

moondog · 07/05/2009 21:50

Aye, that sort of bollocks.

Itsjustafleshwound · 07/05/2009 21:51

It's the Americans I tell ya ....

BigBellasBeerBelly · 07/05/2009 21:57

If there's one thing I hate it's a challenge.

TheCrackFox · 07/05/2009 22:04

Actually, now you mention it, the challenge mania is quite annoying.

My bug bear, at the moment, is everything is a journey.

"we built our dream home, it has been an amazing journey"

"I lost 4 stone, it has been such difficult a journey"

Blah, blah, journey, challenge, blah.

moondog · 07/05/2009 22:07

God yes, such meaningless blather.
(Gawd knows why i started this thread. What else can one say but 'Yeah, it's barking, innit?' Highly unlikely somoene will stand up for criminal overuse of words 'journey' and 'challenge' eh?

OP posts:
Itsjustafleshwound · 07/05/2009 22:11

My crime is far too much Living TV and reality programmes ....

I need to bin the remote ...

thumbwitch · 07/05/2009 22:14

no but more people might add in other words that suffer heavy overuse - my least favourite is "ordeal" - used far too often in the meeja.

And when various heads of state "condemn" bad actions - what the fuck are they going to do, come out and say "well yes actually, we think blowing up XYZ was a jolly good plan and we would have done it if they hadn't"

smurfgirl · 07/05/2009 22:14

Journey is hideous, oft used by celebs who make a 'documentary'

'my google -search-- investigation into eating disorders/drinking/being a size 0/having more than one lover etc has been such a JOURNEY but I am glad to be back to my normal life now' - cue photos of them on the red carpet or presenting their radio show.

Also oft used by people on X Factor as well as the phrase 'I am singing for my life' really? Does Simon Cowell have a shotgun

My mate is doing the volvic challenge, she wees A LOT

southeastastra · 07/05/2009 22:17

i hate the current bottled water challenge bloke.

harleyd · 07/05/2009 22:17

Also oft used by people on X Factor as well as the phrase 'I am singing for my life' really? Does Simon Cowell have a shotgun

wouldnt that make good tv

i hate hate hate the weetabix challenge
grrrrrrrr

TheCrackFox · 07/05/2009 22:23

The volvic water add is hilarious. His character is supposed to be a waiter (?) but spends half his wages on something you get free from a tap.

chegirl · 07/05/2009 22:39

Oh I agree with you so very, very much.

My particular guilty favourite pet hate at the moment is 'biggest loser'. The music!, the close ups! the tears! Not to mention I think they are putting seriously obese people in danger of injury and heart attacks just to make a tv programme.

I am sure that there are millions of people with scummy houses, crap diy, weight problems, unhealthy lifestyles, badly behaved kid, horrible dogs, too much crap etc that are convinced if they just wait long enough a camera crew will knock on their door and solve their problems. So in the meantime they will do feck all about them.

And IF they do get on a challenge type programme, will they use the skills/knowledge learned if they get eliminated? Will they buggery! They will just go back to doing whatever they were doing and wait for the follow up/losers edition/E4 spin off to come and rescue them from themselves.

Phew!

goodnightmoon · 07/05/2009 22:39

LOL crackfox.

after all the (tap) water I've drunk tonight, my challenge is to now make it across the hall to the loo. it's going to be quite a journey.

screamingabdab · 08/05/2009 13:00

goodnightmoon

My challenge is now to go and empty some soup into a saucepan. I'm going to give it 110%

OrmIrian · 08/05/2009 13:03

Not unreasonable.

I am going home from work later. It will be an amazing journey. I am so up for the challenge!

MorrisZapp · 08/05/2009 13:30

There's defintely a Weetabix challenge, and they just run the same ads each year.

Maybe the challenge is not to snort down your nose at the idea of serving Weetabix with strawberries and cream.

PuppyMonkey · 08/05/2009 13:33

And there's the two week Activia challenge, don't forget that one. Cos it might stop you getting all.... bloated.

biscuitsmustbedunkedintea · 08/05/2009 13:34

Does anyone actually eat weetabix with just yoghurt? Isn't the weetabix dry?

We should all set ourselves new challenges on our journey of life. Else you're just living

MorrisZapp · 08/05/2009 13:47

To be fair, I spent my entire childhood desperately hoping I'd be asked to take the Pepsi Challenge.

Never bloody was of course, and now I can't have coke anyway as the caffeine challenges me too much.

screamingabdab · 08/05/2009 15:04

Maybe if we all ate Activia on top of Weetabix, our life's work would be done. The pinnacle of achievement

I once accidentally put orange juice on Weetabix

Blerk

InsomniacMumontheRun · 08/05/2009 15:09

My particular pet hate is the way everything is such an 'emotional rollercoaster'.

Drives me to distraction!

MrsMattie · 08/05/2009 15:10

Totally agree, moondog.

The 'cereal for breakfast and lunch' challenge would be a farking challenge for me, I tell you. Optivita ...twice a day? Good God, NO!

Although I quite fancy this
