I can't get into the old thread so I think we filled it up! I hope everyone finds the new one.

So nice, shiny new thread, nice shiny new AIBU.

AIBU to be jealous of my DH's correspondence with a stranger?

Pogle, I feel I ought to know yours but I'm not getting anywhere.

Maria, this isn't ringing bells at all now. Doh!

AIBU to think that any attempt to seek my fortune is doomed from the start because I am the eldest of three?

OP posts:
CJCregg · 21/05/2009 16:37

Moomin, I'm not sure that I am warm, but is your name Chittleden?

Pogle, I still haven't been to Ightham Mote, kind of drawn to it in a ghoulish way but have resisted so far.

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/05/2009 16:56

CJ, not warm but red hot! I am the Mr Chittenden who palmed The Haunted Dolls' House off on the unfortunate Mr Dillet. But I did give him his money back, all bar £10.

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 21/05/2009 20:58

never heard of either of those!

AIBU to expect to be allowed to sleep comfortably?

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/05/2009 21:04

Ooh, Polly, do you have blue blood?

The Haunted Dolls' House is one of MR James' ghost stories. All pleasantly shivery.

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 21/05/2009 21:13

i do moomin and i get peed off if i can't get a good nights sleep

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/05/2009 21:19

Yes, I can see it would pea you off! Did that story puzzle you when you were small because it certainly did me? And, as for Red Riding Hood, why does the mother think a wolf won't walk on the path?

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 21/05/2009 21:24

moomin, i'll say it again, you have a good memory...i don't even remember that wolves aren't supposed to go on the path.....and dd refuses to read rrhood as it's too scary!

i never really got the p and the pea as a child but am quite fond now of famous tales told from a diff perspective eg the pea and the princess and wicked are 2 of my faves

MoominMymbleandMy · 21/05/2009 21:46

We loved Lauren Child's Beware of the Storybook Wolves and Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Book too.

Anyone going to have a shot at the fortunes of the eldest of three?

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 22/05/2009 00:00

...Well, I didn't intend to seek my fortune but I don't think I've got any choice now. If I stay at home I'll scare my family witless...

Night all!

OP posts:
llandb · 22/05/2009 00:01

But what if Peter hadn't caught the wolf - what then?

'Night, All!

CJCregg · 22/05/2009 10:39

Sorry, Moomin - I haven't a clue!

MoominMymbleandMy · 22/05/2009 12:07

Good afternoon everyone!

...the unfortunate event which has rendered me unrecogniseable to my nearest and dearest, also means I'm not in the best physical condition to seek my fortune. However, I seem to have obtained a position as a cleaner...

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 22/05/2009 13:55

moomin are you fire damaged?

pollywobbledoodle · 22/05/2009 13:56

llandb, is ur bit in the < > real life or a book??

MoominMymbleandMy · 22/05/2009 14:34

Hi Polly, no I'm not fire-damaged. The warm fire is one of the best things about this peculiar dwelling, which is, frankly, in a disgusting state. It's going to take ages to clean. But that's all to the good because the owner might keep me on. Actually, I'm not sure he's noticed me yet...

OP posts:
SnowWoman · 22/05/2009 14:48

You know Moomin, cleaning for an ex-Welsh rugby fanatic really does make we want to howl with frustration!

MoominMymbleandMy · 22/05/2009 15:01

Well done Snow Woman! But it is a cushy billet so I won't move on just yet. That's the second Diana Wynne Jones you've got. Do I detect another fan?

Polly, I'm pretty sure llandb is referring to RL aunties.

AIBU to ignore this prophecy of disaster? It may well be true, but evacuating our entire community could prove to be even more catastrophic?

OP posts:
SnowWoman · 22/05/2009 15:31

sure do - I thought it was Sophie to start with, but didn't think you'd do another one so soon after the Ogre

Hmmmmm - too many disasters to choose from - I think I need a bit more in the way of clues for that one.

MoominMymbleandMy · 22/05/2009 15:54

...Now the prophet of doom, his brother and a bunch of other malcontents have set off by themselves. It's probably just as well. We don't need them spreading panic...

OP posts:
SnowWoman · 22/05/2009 16:14

Certainly not, we don't need weak-minded dreamers here. That bunch of lads won't survive long anyway...

AIBU to expect my new governess to look after me properly? After all, I am supposed to be getting an education while my parents are abroad.

MoominMymbleandMy · 22/05/2009 16:44

SnowWoman, you think it was wise of us to stick tight then?

Is your cousin keeping you company while your parents are away?

OP posts:
SnowWoman · 22/05/2009 17:04

But it's a bad world out there - foxes, cats, dogs, a Thousand Enemies after us.

Yes, she is - she's cleverer than I am though.

MoominMymbleandMy · 22/05/2009 17:23

I'd keep an eye on the governess then, Snow. You might find she's burnt your parents' will and is planning to offload you both on an orphanage.

Hooray! I knew I was right to stay in the warren. Even if there is a funny smell today.

AIBU to try to have my baby prematurely?

OP posts:
SnowWoman · 22/05/2009 17:36

So she did - ghastly place it was!

I'm afraid if you're still in the warren, you've had it - you should have listened to Fiver and Hazel, you know.

That depends on who the father is, or does it?
