.... woke up, lovely sunny day, thought stuff the housework, lets go to the massive park about 30 mins away from home.
me dp and the two youngest drove there, enjoyed the trees, and cherry blossom falling on us, played with a football took pics, saw the animals, then went on to the childrens play area. as usual it was packed, they played happily enough for about an hour on slides, seasaws and in the sand pit, then my ds saw the swings and wanted a go. we stood patiently in the queue, which was brilliant for my two year old, as he is just leaning to share.
then this woman and her friend appeared, and stood along side, eventually a child was taken off the said swings, and my dp went to put our son on, when this woman stood in front of them and said, 'great we are nearest. i pointed out (nicely) that my son had been waiting ages, and that there was others before her anyway, and then she started, making out i was shouting at her, and being very sarcastic, i couldnt believe it. she was laughing at us and saying nasty things, as if she was better than us, i admit we were not dressed up, and she was all done up, with a top of the range pram etc... does that give her status or something????
i really wanted to put her in her place, with a swift right fucking hook, but of course i did not, i did however stare her out!!! ha ha
sorry for rant, just got completely on my nerves and spoiled our 'perfect' day.
i know i shouldnt be bothered, it just really upset me, like she was looking down on us!!
silly tart.

She was trying to make you feel inferior because she was embarrassed that her behaviour made her look stupid and inferior in your eyes and anyone else's who was standing nearby. She was an arse. This sort of thing really riles me too, but try and rise above it. You had to put up with her stupidity for 5 minutes - she has to live with it

alicecrail · 04/05/2009 15:15

What a twat! that would really rile me too. Well done on restraining yourself

Lizzylou · 04/05/2009 15:17

She was a nob, and dressed up for the park???
Daft mare.

belgo · 04/05/2009 15:22

YANBU. Some people are just rude.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 04/05/2009 15:24

Oooh- what a witch! (her, not you!) I would have used my "You see, dc's, THAT is very rude behaviour, isn't it? You would never be rude like that lady, would you? YOU understand about MANNERS and WAITING YOUR TURN, but I'm afraid some people didn't learn those things. Never mind, we will wait right here, patiently and politely, until we get a turn."

ie I would make it clear that I thought we were far better than her, with her appalling manners, but would in no way back down! I would have stood there smiling ominously until she left (but I am a stubborn cow!) And if she started haranguing me, I would have smiled sweetly and said "Sorry, dear, I don't DO the fishwife-in-the-park thing. If you wish to carry on like a harridan, I'm afraid you're on your own!" (I have done this in the past )

She sounds like an arse. Only someone who is in fact inferior thinks that nice clothes and a posh pram somehow make you more important-yeuch!

matildax · 04/05/2009 15:35

thankyou all, and lol at 'she has to live with herself for ever'!! jesus what a hideous thought!!!
lol jooly i will remember that ir ever i come across this sort of lady bitch again.
xx

What a silly silly cow. Since when does being nearest entitle someone to queue jump? Well done for staring her out and giving her something to think about probably too

katiestar · 04/05/2009 16:15

I think you embarassed her by pointing out that there was a queue and she wasn't mature enough to cope with the embarassment in an adult way.
Joolyjoolyjoo - can't you see you would be being just as rude , as well as thoroughly confusing your children !!

Joolyjoolyjoo · 04/05/2009 16:20

katiestar- no, I don't see it as being rude to point out someone else's rudeness in a non-aggressive way. being rude would be if I went up to her and started spouting verbal abuse at her.

More confusing to the children to see that they have to wait their turn, but other people don't, and that nothing is said about it.

flaminhell · 04/05/2009 16:34

Shes a mouthy tart, no end of fancy prams and clothes can hide that, she made a tit of herself, just ignore her and the 2 sec episode she had in your perfect day.

Although I would have gripped her knocked her the fuck out, but I am a mouthy tart!

Numberfour · 04/05/2009 16:45

yes, i like that one too! rude cow at park has to live with herself all the time whereas OP only had to deal with her for 5 min!! such a good piece of advice to remember around awful people like that.

PM73 · 04/05/2009 18:17

What a horrible rude sow,i think you did well restraining yourself & definitly came out the better woman

katiestar · 04/05/2009 18:41

sorry Jooly didn't read your post properly.I thought you were going to talk about her bad manners to your children in front of her !!Must learn to read properly !!!

Joolyjoolyjoo · 04/05/2009 18:44

No, don't worry Katie- I'd be quite happy to do it with her in earshot! Whether she chooses to listen in to my conversation with my children about how such a lack of manners simply isn't on would be up to her

She might even learn something! (but then old dog/ new tricks and all that)

shivster1980 · 04/05/2009 18:46

YANBU she sounded like a horrible person.

MANATEEequineOHARA · 04/05/2009 18:47

That sounds very much like the behaviour of a moron who just realised they have done something stupid and think that by slagging off the person who pointed out their stupidity, that they make themselves look better! Very pathetic, but also very maddening for you on the recieving end of her vile gob!

steviesgirl · 04/05/2009 19:48

Effing old bag. Some people really do think they are better than others. It makes me sick they are so shallow. Just laugh and thank your lucky stars you aren't like that. It's just a pity we have to share the planet with such fuckheads people!!

cheekster · 04/05/2009 19:53

YANBU, who the hell did she think she was?

Did your DS win the swing in the end? I hope so, and stuck his tongue out while he was happily swinging
