Am I being unreasonable to think that a meal and a few drinks at a friends house should result in my partner being taken home totallly comatosed

we have 2 children 4 and 8 as do they, it was a family do and IMO should not have ended in a gin session with him being unable to speak coherently

playftseforme · 03/05/2009 22:20

Was he the only one tucking into the gin? Was he being egged on by other family members?

Maybe it was easier to say yes than no. And it's a fine line between ok and too much...

daftpunk · 03/05/2009 22:21

a bit ott tbh...i wouldn't have been happy.

yanbu

daftpunk · 03/05/2009 22:22

but don't give him too hard a time...

MaureenMLove · 03/05/2009 22:25

OK. I understand that you are fed up, but in the grand sceme of things, did it do any harm? He came home with you, one would hope he wasn't abusive to you in any way and he will still be there in the morning, back to his usual lovely DH self.

He'll have a hellava head though, so as the saying goes, revenge is a dish.... I reckon that will be your revenge!

Kbear · 03/05/2009 22:27

perhaps he had such a good time and got as relaxed as a newt without realising until it was too late - happens to the best of us!!

myfeethurt · 03/05/2009 22:29

he is lying on sofa hugging the dog - his only friend at the moment after unsuccessfully trying to read dd2 famous five for bed time story. She asked " how come when you and dadddy drink, he gets sleepy ad you get angry?" hmmm i wonder...

OP posts:
Idranktheeasterspirits · 03/05/2009 22:31

So you were both drinking?

I would prefer a sleepy drinker to an angry one.

MaureenMLove · 03/05/2009 22:31

Why is that then? Does he do it alot?

myfeethurt · 03/05/2009 22:33

i am not an angry drinker just cross with him for being so completely inappropriately wankered

OP posts:
myfeethurt · 03/05/2009 22:34

i am actually a very charming and funny drunk, just responsible when in charge of my children wink

OP posts:
myfeethurt · 03/05/2009 22:35

ha, that wink thing didn't work did it?

OP posts:
MaureenMLove · 03/05/2009 22:36

No, that's because you've been drinking! [wnik]

MaureenMLove · 03/05/2009 22:36

ooops! So have I!!

Idranktheeasterspirits · 03/05/2009 22:37

Why was it inappropriate though?

What state was everyone else in? Had he eaten or nust picked. Does he normally like a drink or was he bladdered because he hadnt had a drnk for a while?

RyanAirVeteran · 03/05/2009 22:37

And breathe..................................

Idranktheeasterspirits · 03/05/2009 22:38

nust = just

Drnk = drink.

Fecking ipod.

myfeethurt · 03/05/2009 22:43

i think i'm just jealous that as usual i was the responsible one who held back, as we have 2 children who need to be taken home and put to bed and as usual he had no regard for anyone but himself and him and his mate got stuck into the gin, oh well, thats life i guess, i shall make loads of noise early in morning just to be cruel(grin)

OP posts:
RyanAirVeteran · 03/05/2009 22:44

It is not the end of the world....

Are you always this controlling ??

He is not out on the piss, without you. He got a bit drunk, and he is being judged not only by his wife but also by his daughter makes me wonder what sort of messages she is getting.....

myfeethurt · 03/05/2009 22:44

why can't i do wink , grin thing - am new to this

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 03/05/2009 22:46

Bladdered in front of the children isn't a good move, IMO.

myfeethurt · 03/05/2009 22:47

You need to put square brackets around the words to make the smilies.
