This is no biggy or anyhting, and not even really important, it really isn't...but this morning something very minor happened and it struck me as, well, weird...

As per normal went to canteen this mornign for a morning Latte, but the canteen coffee machine was chocca block and I could not be bothered...
within the canteen there is a little coffee-kiosk, whihc is slightly more expensive, hence me never usually using it...

anyway, youngish lad works in there and as he hands me the change of money he cupped the hand I held out to receive the change into one of his hands than put my change into my palm, sort of pressing it into my palm....
it made me feel uncomfortable, for no particular reason other than that seems a sort of "intimate" (for lack of better phrase) gesture...it was just a bit odd...

now I am not someone who has problems with being touched, etc...but it was just weird...can't even explain really why...

am I unreasonable to think it was odd...or, am indeed I am the odd one?

I mean, I kn ow I am odd for even give this a second thought...I blame the course I am doing (Occupational Therapy) and it's current curriculum, which makes us look closer at interpersonal communication and also at bounderies, etc...so, I htink I am possibly having these kind of things on my mind...or I am just weird....

anyway, was it an odd thing to do? or am I odd?

(and before I get blamed for not giving all information, by accent and looks, I would think that this guy was most likely a Brit and not from another cultur...well, as far as I could tell)

Is that really how freemasons shake hands.. the reason I ask because by doing that it stops the person whos's ahnking your hand being able to squeeze it/hurt you iykwim (does that make sense?)

you know how some people are bone crushers and can really hurt if they want to.. if you put your index finger out then it unless they squeeze very very hard it does hurt

Could have been worse.

He could have shoved your hand down the front of his trousers.

Do you know how badly I wanted to type [wank] there?

Whoops, temptation got the better of me.

daisybaby Oh yes - do it! It will totally confuse them (girls are not allowed). I gather you are most likely to find a Masons in the police, or lawyers. General pillocks pillars-of-the-community types.

mascaraohara not sure if that's why they do it - but good defensive gesture. I shall go and google

When guys used to do that to me (too many years ago now!) it usually meant they fancied me.

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 01/05/2009 18:27

see...when I was younger I may have come to that conclusion...but now...I mean...am not the youngest and not the fittest and not the prettiest....lol
