To send DS to school on Friday?

On friday, a few kids from DS's class are going to the local secondary school to do some multi-skills training. He's 8.

He says he doesn't want to go but most of the kids from his class are going. Those that don't will be sat in other classes at school with a very strict dragon teacher.

He wants me to let him stop off school. Should I just make him go to the secondary school trip thing?

why doesn't he want to go? And is it a 'turn up if you like' thing, or is he expected to go?

Yes

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 29/04/2009 14:49

I'd send him anyway. It's not down to him to pick and choose when he goes to school. If he's ill then this is different. What's he going to do if the dragon is his teacher next year? He can't have the whole year off just because he's got a strict teacher.

Don't pussyfoot around him. You're his mum, send him to school.

of course he should go on the trip. Is he anxious about moving up schools - I ask cos the transition is very anxiety producing and lots of careful care is taken with this to prepare them.

Of course he should go-I bet he enjoys it once he is there.

PrimulaVeris · 29/04/2009 14:53

Exactly what FluffyBunny said - gives bad idea if he thinks he can pick and choose parts of school he does or doesn't like and no other issues. How would you explain his absence? Send him in - it's only one day.

if it's a choice thing he gets to choose.. trip or school.. home is not an option unless he is awfully terrible ill.
He's probably a bit worried about the trip to big school.. he'll be fine.

Unless they are too ill to go about their normal daily business they should go to school.
