I purchased some GDH's online and no-where did it say they'd be getting imported from china, so i expected them to be here by now... Have just checked my paypal and the tracking number i've been given tells me they are coming from china...

AIBU to think they must be fake?? got them at 40% off RRP too... some UK sites are offering them at the same price but i'm going to be so upset if they are fake... i've always had crap cheap straighteners and now i've spent £70 on some i thought would be fantastic and now im thinking i've been conned!!!

Put a link to the site Glaskham.

glaskham · 29/04/2009 14:52

here are ones i bought... they are actually 50% off... probably too good to be true!! though i remember that i looked on a few different ones and they were all around the same price or within around £5 difference, which is why i went for these being a pound or so the cheapest!!

Uhm I think this is the official GHD website www.ghdhair.com/
They have a list of counterfeit websites.

bellavita · 29/04/2009 14:59

I can't see anything dodgy about the site.

lal123 · 29/04/2009 15:00

Think you'll be lucky to get any straighteners - definitely a dodgy site

bellavita · 29/04/2009 15:04

blimey, it is dodgy - they are listed on the official site.

Oh Glaskham am for you.

glaskham · 29/04/2009 15:05

bellavita- i've just tried looking through the site for tracking and 'about us' and says nothing about them.

they aren't on the GHD counterfit list but there's a site called u-kghdhair and i ordered from u-kghd.... i'm thinking i've been well and truely ripped off now...

OP posts:
lottiebunny · 29/04/2009 15:09

Can't see any address or phone number which is a bad sign.

glaskham · 29/04/2009 15:13

OMG- i'm so upset now!! I've been waiting to treat myself to some GHD's for nearly a year now, decided to get them as a treat for myself after having DC3, so bought them and now i'm gonna have cheap naff copy's!!

OP posts:
glaskham · 29/04/2009 15:17

just used the official GHD site website checker and they have come up as unknown website retailer- which i think confirms that they'll be fake if they turn up at all!!

Oh no- have just tried to put in a dispute with paypal and now paypal has said the seller can't respond and reccomended escalating to a claim already, so i have on the grounds that i think they are fraudulent- that is right isn't it?

I hope you get your money back.

for you.

Can't help thinking GHD would make things simpler if they sold them in shops as well. I know they sell them in salons but seems to be so they can fix the price high.

Good luck with paypal.

I purchased 5 pairs(for my business to sell) through a site that who claim they are partnered with ghd and mine are fakes....I have had to send them off to ghd to confirm this so the credit card will give me a refund

evaangel- thats just a nightmare- i'm hoping paypal will refund- but i think the sellers will be pro's and have emptied their account!! There are loads of people looking at their site too- i just wanna tell them all to go somewhere else and buy genuine GHd's!!

Shineon- Paypal can only refund what the seller has in their account- something tells me they'd make sure their account was as empty as possible to stop them having to give refunds!!

I'm now gonna have to save again to buy some genuine GHD's i think!!

I dont like spending money on myself so can't justify spending all that money on another pair if i loose all that money!!

I contacted ghd and they are happy to hear of the sites selling fakes, they are trying to close them down, the credit card company will refund me as long as ghd confirm in writing that they are fake, i would send them off, get them confirmed in writing then paypal should refund you..hope it works out for you..99% fakes come from china

evaangel2 · 29/04/2009 16:07

will lie through my arse to get your money
this is one of the sites
