To think if Dh's boss wants to meet with him then it should be within work time?

To clarify- this is a goodbye redundancy meeting so not exactly a step up any career ladder!

Dh finishes shift at 7am, comes home to sleep, we're off at midday for a weekend away.

Boss is demanding DH turns up at 8.45 or gross misconduct.

DH on phone to HR now but isn't that just stupid? technically Dh finishes that very day

err
gross misconduct
If his shift finishes at 7am and he is being made redundant then technically surely he is not employed after that time.
I would just say he is not coming and leave it at that

CountessDracula · 29/04/2009 11:54

what i mean is surely you can't be done for gross misconduct AFTER you have left!

AMumInScotland · 29/04/2009 11:54

If he finishes work for the last time at 7am that day, his "boss" can take a long walk off a short pier from that time onwards, I would say!

If he wants a final meeting, he needs to go along during your dh's shift.

What they said

IheartNY · 29/04/2009 13:12

Perhaps he should let his boss try the 'gross misconduct' card and then sue the company for unfair dismissal!!
What a tosser the boss must be!

Galava · 29/04/2009 13:14

What everyone else says. Odd.

Hope it all works out for you Peachy.

pavlovthepregnantcat · 29/04/2009 13:16

ROFL! I would say, sure whatever, and just not bother turning up. Let his boss waste some time!

if he finishes his last shift at 7am, he has finished work and is no longer employed by them? If he has annual leave to take, then this is his own time. cheeky bugger of a boss!

Peachy · 29/04/2009 15:51

Dh spoke to HR< see3ms boss is just being at twat over cautious with the admin, HR have said if Dh can't make it reatrrange; bos says he's too busy so HR say DH can skip it.

Like dh says, if boss came in at 7 he'd liked to have said bye but if the man cant be arsed to get there for 1 hr early on the day he 'sacks' 35 colleagues then- well!

It's apparently supposed to make people think they might get a new job if they really beg so they work hard and dont slack in the last few days (line manager tip off) as the new system involves them having no cover whatsoever.
