I've got four boys here, doing a level 3 reading comp. I'm not allowed to help them at all, so I'm surfing t'interweb.
AIBU?

Obviously not then!
I shall carry on, guilt-free, absolved by the lack of MN judgement!

You should have your full attention on the students and be aware if they put their hands up or need more paper. If a rep of the exam board or a moderator came in they would feel you were indeed being more than unreasonable-unprofessional in fact.

thesockmonsterofdoom · 27/04/2009 14:07

I would say not as long as you are keeping an eye on the boys, however I dont know the rules, are you supposed to sit there in silence and do nothing?

snice · 27/04/2009 14:09

You're probably OK as long as you steer clear of the bumsex threads

thedolly · 27/04/2009 14:15

I don't know about unreasonable but definitely unprofessional.

SATsAreRubbish · 27/04/2009 14:24

I'm sat right next to them. I'm not allowed to help them at all and they have answer booklets, not paper.

Can't have done them much harm, just sent them out to play and have marked their papers. All achieved level 3!

Note taken about the bumsex threads!

Did they all have the same answers?

Hulababy · 27/04/2009 14:28

Are you allowed?I remember doing exam invigilation int he past and we were not allowed to do anything at all bar supervise and observe - no marking, reading, planning, etc. and definitely no phones or internet.

SATsAreRubbish · 27/04/2009 14:31

ha ha ronshar. No copying here!

This is all a bit tongue-in-cheek really. I wouldn't be posting on here if I wasn't allowed. It's not exam invigilation as such. I'm supervising them whilst they undertake an assessment reading test. It's not really a big deal (my name says it all really) as it's teacher assessment that gets recorded, not the test results.

So long as ok with the school, then it is fine.

We have some parents coming in tomorrow for a chat about how to conduct the ATs papers, like wht you have done I think. I know that they are not allowed to be online, etc. Different schools, different rules.

PuppyMonkey · 27/04/2009 15:25

As your name suggests, SATs are all a load of bolleaux anyway so it doesn't matter what you do I reckon.
