To think you don't tell someone you're popping round later with 4 kids in tow?

I just want to be able to do what i f ing want with my weekend without having to put up with friends forcing themselves on me. OK if you have one or 2 children maybe, but if you have 4 maybe think before you threaten to come round. I have exams to study for, and maybe would like to do something with my DC's without her lot rampaging through my house. If I wanted a party this weekend I would have f ing arranged one.

Riven - you may need to knock 2 of those terraces into one for Juule and her brood

Oh dear, but will the kids be able to socialise if they're stuck at the end and not in the middle of everything

FAQinglovely · 25/04/2009 14:43

I must though I grew up in a house where the door was alwas "open" so to speak. My mum had the attitude that if she was home and someone came to visit (even unexpected - ie just knocked on the door) then they were welcome.

She never ever turned friends away, even at times when I knew she was run off her feet.

I'm the same, I do appreciate a call to say "we're just on our way" (so I have a chance to shove all the mess in cupboards/under sofa etc ) but it doesn't bother me - even if I'd had plans to do something else (obviously plans that were already made with other people out of the house always elicited a polite "we're going out in 20 minutes to do X - but do come in for a cup of tea" from my mum.

Mind she was a master entertainer. I'll never forget a knock at the door about 4pm one afternoon. My parents opened it to find some friends of theirs that they'd known for about 20yrs. They were in the area so decided to pop in. That night we sat down to a 3 course meal

(oh and did I mention that the family friends lived in Australia - we were in Middle England and they just "happened" to be in the area - they'd forgotten to tell my parents they were coming to the UK so my parents nearly keeled over in shock when they arrived on the doorstep )

tbh if it was my summer holiday it wouldn't bother me, I'm laid back then. But it's hard enough juggling studying with DC's, housework etc. She doesn't work or study, so her free time is actually free, my situation is different.I have to schedule my time, or everything will fall apart (am also a capricorn).
And actually Riven, Sawyer is mine and mine alone. He told me himself so back off lady

FAQinglovely · 25/04/2009 14:57

lou33 · 25/04/2009 15:07

moondog · 25/04/2009 15:09

God, can't think of anything worse than someone calling with 4 kids in tow.
Or 3.
Or 2
Hell, even 1.
Clear orf and leave me in peace i say.
