Sneering that the likes of Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox, Claudia Schiffer or any successful, rich and beautiful woman isn't a real woman.

FFS, they are not robots or plastic.. they are extraordinary women... hurrah for them!

Not my poem. Googled 'what is a real woman?'

I read closer, heat etc... and when I look at the celebrities, theyre all fake to me. Name one celeb thats had no botox or lipo, hasnt a fake tan and is 91/2 stone and a size 12?

Portofino · 23/04/2009 22:27

Is there a similar poem for Real Men. I would like to see it!

Well I'm real. I'm curvy and work hard and try to bring up my dd to the best of my ability. And my DH is real. He works hard, and drinks beer and watches football and loves me and dd.

Lizzylou · 23/04/2009 22:27

My friend sent me a photo of Brad Pitt.
He'd come over to South Africa (where she lived) for charidee work.
She described him as pretty, but the skinniest man she had ever seen.
He was next to a man who she'd previosuly thaouht was skinny, but Brad made him look fat.
50cent is apparently a short ass uglymug also, but that's less than news

American actress, model and party gal. Very beautiful but not particularly talented.

TheCrackFox · 23/04/2009 22:29

Thanks Nancy.

Sometimes Google is not our friend.

Chellesgirl · 23/04/2009 22:33

I think thats too much to ask for in man of 'now'.

Portofino · 23/04/2009 22:35

Ohhhh! Thanks for that Chel. I can firmly say that i have never met one of them then! Do you think Brad Pitt meets those criteria?

Portofino · 23/04/2009 22:36

Oh - just read "walks away from temptation". Not our Brad then

hmc · 23/04/2009 22:36

Chellesgirl · 23/04/2009 22:42

Port...yeah actually at least this one for Brad...
"Is willing to love sacrificially"

Any man who can adopt a child (before having his own flesh and blood) is surely sacrificing something

Chellesgirl · 23/04/2009 22:49

Real women: (in my opinion)

  • Love thier children unconditionally
  • Like to eat choccy
  • Wishes she could curl up on the sofa every night watching her fave soap, without having to do the washing up/iron clothes/mop up sick (sometimes)
  • Wants to be loved by her DP, and treated as shes the only woman in the world
  • Loves comfy clothes
  • Loves shopping
  • Works Hard
  • Wishes there was no such thing as a perfect body (which there isnt, we all just think there is)
  • Loves to chat to her freinds over coffee, without having to shout at the kids for squirting thier fruit shoot everywhere ( or wishes they could stay at home with DP for a few hrs)
  • Wants to be able to eat what she feels like without calorie counting

Anyone add please...

Judy1234 · 23/04/2009 22:55

likes a lot of sex
has big breasts and long hair

TheProvincialLady · 23/04/2009 23:00

Do I have to like comfy clothes to be a real woman? I don't especially.

In my opinion real women are just women. Something to do with chromosones (which I don't really understand being just a woman and all that). I don't feel a need to conform to anyone's idea of realness. When men who want to be women try and be one the result is quite often awful, a dreadful parody of a woman, and so I think it is better to just be what you are without fretting over it too much.

And on that note, ladies (real and otherwise), I bid you good night

sleeplessinstretford · 23/04/2009 23:00

is it just me that thinks angelina jolie is batshit mental? can't be-surely??

PussinJimmyChoos · 23/04/2009 23:02

Wonders when Xenia will post that real women go to work full time??

Nancy66 · 23/04/2009 23:03

sleepless - completely agree. She even looks a bit mental. Can't wait to read those kids' 'mommy dearest' type book when it comes out.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 23/04/2009 23:06
sleeplessinstretford · 23/04/2009 23:14

she's multi married, doesn't speak to her family, adopts willynilly,if rumour is to be believed doesn't believe in 'rules' for her kids, stole another womans husband (ultimately he's to blame but fucking hell she's so fit even i'd probably have a go on her and i am straight!),wore hubby number 2's blood in a vial, etc etc.
how in the name of GOD is she stable enough to get so many kids lobbed her way???

sleeplessinstretford · 23/04/2009 23:16

ps fwiw a mate of mine was art dir of a mag and did a photo shoot with that giselle-he emailed me to say she had a wonky nose,a slightly bonk eye and a really shit boob job...

MorrisZapp · 23/04/2009 23:19

I agree that all women are of course real, but I think it's fair to point out that people like Jolie etc are paid very well to be beautiful - it's their livelihood.

Because of their high salaries they can pay staff to do much of the drudge work that takes it's toll on the energy levels of actual real women who do not work in the fashion or entertainment industries.

Of course Jolie is real, but it's important to recognise that like all the others actresses/ models whose images we are bombarded with, it takes a team of preofessionals to make beauty look that real.

I will bet hard cash that Jennifer Anistons hair is normal, unruly just like anybody elses. In fact I know it is, as she had normal hair before she hit the big time. Now she's super glossy and never less than enviably gorgeous. She's still real, but the image she projects isn't.

Think of the best you've ever looked: possibly at your wedding, or after a holiday, with newly blowdried salon hair. Is that how you look every day, all year round? Those women look 'wedding perfect' for a living.

For me 'real' means not a celebrity, and not having professional assistance with your everyday looks and indeed life in general. Gawd save us from anybody who says that JLo or Catherine ZJ are 'real' because they have size 10 hips instead of the regulation 6.

Gentle · 23/04/2009 23:21

To go back to the OP - I don't really understand. Where were "real women" sneering at Angelina Jolie et al?

Did Angelina Jolie care?
