I know I am breaking all the rules by starting a thread about a thread except that you couldn't even call it a thread, it was more like a bit of fluff (thanks to those who did reply BTW).

I would really like some advice from all the ladies out there who have managed to keep a career afloat whilst being a SAHM.

As I am still fairly new to MN it might just be that I'm going about it all wrong but I've lurked on many threads where there is advice in abundance.

Surely someone can offer some ideas/inspiration. Advice on my posting style also welcome.

Why cant you just bump the original thread, rather than sticking it in AIBU? Now there will be two conversations going.

Can I suggest that actual advice goes to the old thread, whereas tellings-off, discussions on the nature of MN, Netiquette, etc, stay on this thread?

Nothing wrong with your posting style it maybe just not a topic many people can give an informed opinion on.

Personally i would have thought it was career suicide but i don't think i'm qualified to give you any proper advice. I'd hate you to not do something because i thought it was abad idea

It just didn't interst that many people. A few replied but it just fell off active convos.
There is no recipe for busy threads , nor is it unusual for some threads to get no replies at all.

If you want more interest try bumping it.

Isn't posting in Employment just like advertising the fact that it's dull? At least this way I might lure some of the more argumentative types in, not to mention witty .

TBH dolly I think maybe your question was a bit specialised, and so not many people felt able to help...

Maybe you needed to keep it more general, ask if people had experience of voluntary work and what they did, I'm sure people would love to tell you that, and if anyone did it in a way you were interested in ask them more direct questions?

It was the idea of people who do voluntary work loving to tell me about it. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Chat goes too fast - things fall off active convos. if you want more answers you need to go to one of the other boards. But i just haven't got anything to say on your original thread.
