I cut and paste:

My mum visited recently and I've just noticed she's left an orange and a bunch of celery
in our fridge. Both look fine, but we don't eat either so if anyone is in morchard bishop
and passing us today or tomorrow you're welcome to pick them up.

AIBU, or is she completely out to lunch?

I've just forwarded it to dh with the message "nip through Morchard Bishop on the way home, there's a love - waste not want not!"

His mother is a fierce Irish matriarch of the "if you don't eat that it'll come out to haunt you at every meal until you do" variety, so it should cause him a nice little frisson of horror [meanie]

I wonder whether it's to do with the recycling rules. Ie, she just doesn't want to keep it in her bin for a fortnight. Would rather stick it in someone elses.

Oh maybe! I didn't hink of that, it just reminded me of cod's mother and the cold sausage

Ever since the recycling came into our area my next door neighbour is ALWAYS trying to palm her leftover grub onto us

littlesilversnowbeetle · 21/04/2009 12:53

no don't - she could be a secret serial killer, murdering all the freeloaders by tempting them with poisoned oranges. Like the witch in Snow White - oh wait, that was an apple.

I wonder if the celery is washed and trimmed?
