going to stay with best friend from uni in a couple of weeks, cant wait to see her as I havent for nearly a year.
Got babysitters for fri afternoon so i can go down friday and come back Mon as is bank holiday. I can not wait.
However, when bf and I meet up we always go out clubbing and catch up with loads of old friends (well current ones for her but yswim) on Friday one old friend is launching a club night so I am guessing everyone will be there, and noone will be out on Saturday but bf SIL's birthday is Fiday and they/we are going round to her house for cake, dont know if we can go to the club night and dont know how to ask bf without sounding like I am just wanting her for somewhere to stay iyswim.
I am not, i am dying to see her, i just dont get to go out very often and really realy need a good night out as well.
Anyway can I ask her if we can go to the club? If not can I ask her if I can go to the club but still stay at hers? I could probably find somewhere else to crash friday night but I really want to spend as much time as I can with bf.
I need this weekend away so much as I am drowning here at the moment so i dont want to spoil anything before i even get there.
Ideas please.
Thanks.

It's your BF and she presumably knows how much you are looking forward t othis weekend? Are you also good friends with her SIL?

If you are, I'd suggest saying you're keen for cake etc but would like to meet up with the rest of the crowd for the big night out later.

If you aren't, can't you discuss with BF, explaining the issue and asking her if she can leave the SIL early to go to the club?

Alternatively, if these are all good friends, can't you arrange a night out with them on Saturday too - something you actually plan, maybe starting with restorative bloody marys before you head out somewhere?

Her SIL is a friend but not a close one iyswim, I will obviously be happy to go round for cake, and quite fancy the eveing that they will have, I just really want to let my hair down as I never get to, I havent really told bf about things that are going on here, thought I would wait till I see her, so she doesnt really know how much o need to get away.
I will call her later and see what she has in mind, I am sure i could find a sofa to crah on friday night if she is having family only thing.
I wish I could just go now.

Sounds good - discuss with her and agree to leave early enough to hit the clubs. It will be like being back at uni with multiple parties on a night!

thats what i'm after, plus then more on Saturday night. I know to people without dc the importance of a good night out can be lost as they can have them without 6 months prior planning.

I have also been putting off going for so long as a self inflicted punishment for being a fat frumpy old git. I keep saying I will visit bf when i have lost a stone and then never managing it so i dont go.

When last did you go? Just one word of caution: if you haven'e been for ages, things might not be exactly the same. She's your BF so you're still going to have a good time etc, but the partying etc might not be the same as in the past?

thesockmonsterofdoom · 20/04/2009 17:45

I havent been for about a year, according to everyone's profile on facebook though everything is pretty much the same. I need to be careful not to build to much expectation into the weekend as I may end up feeling dissapointed which would be stupid. I have not been asway for this long since I had dd 5 years ago.

It will be great - just keep reminding yourself about the importance of just hanging out with old, good friends who know you well.

TrillianAstra · 20/04/2009 17:50

Would SIL and all her friends like to go to the club night after the cakey party too? You could all move on together?

thesockmonsterofdoom · 20/04/2009 18:31

I dont know tbh, ging to phone bf later and check it is still ok for e to go, strting to feel a bit a bit like I might be intruding.
