To NOT Put DD1 In Her Summer Dress For School Just Yet....

DD1 really wants to wear her gingham summer dress for school.

I personally feel it isnt warm enough yet, and would rather she wore her t-shirt/pinifore and cardigan.

Am I being a mean mummy and let her wear it?!

DD1 is 4 and going to school full time for the first time tomorrow.

I'd let her but make sure she wears her cardie.

Dd2 is wearing hers on tuesday.

Can you not put a vest underneath and then a cardigan and some knee length socks or tights?

Hulababy · 19/04/2009 20:55

My DD gets to chose winter or summer uniform between Easter and haf term, but she always choses summer even if it isn't as warm as it is at the moment.

If you are a bit concerned just put a vest underneath and get her to wear her cardi. I assume she will have a coat for playtime/

vest, summer dress and cardie. it is supposed to be lovely weather this week, though maybe not where you are.

My DD gets to choose winter or summer uniform between Easter and haf term,(and again between September and half term) but she always chooses summer even if it isn't as warm as it is at the moment.

If you are a bit concerned just put a vest underneath and get her to wear her cardi. I assume she will have a coat for playtime.

ooooh, I am a mean mummy then!

So summer dress with vest and cardi.

She will be a happy girl tomorrow then!!

dd has to wear her summmer dress all term . It has been really warm here today and forecast is good.

myredcardigan · 19/04/2009 20:57

We've had lovely weather today so I expect lots of the girls will have dresses on tomorrow. I agree with the vest idea.

I you don't let her and then allthe other girls have dresses on she'll be heartbroken whereas if she's the only one (which I doubt she will be)in a dress she still wont mind as she loves it so much.

At the school I work at a lot of the girls wear their summer dresses all year round. They wear thick tights and long seeved t shirts under them.

noonar · 19/04/2009 20:59

my dds often wear 3/4 length leggings underneath

Thanks all.

I think I will let her wear the summer dress (so long as its not raining tomorrow LOL) - she will be so excited!

My DD has been wearing hers already, has been since the week before Easter too.

She wears long socks, a vest, her cardigan and takes her coat too, so she's been plenty warm enough.

And she looks just adorable in them!

happywomble · 19/04/2009 21:15

My DD just 4 is wearing hers. Her winter uniform was so bulky I think she is relieved to just be in the dress and cardigan.

I was rather worried to find the belt didn't do up round DDs tummy. She doesn't seem overweight but still has a slightly protruding tummy like a toddler.

Simplysally · 19/04/2009 21:36

I've had this conversation this weekend too but unless it's a LOT warmer on Tuesday (Inset day tomorrow) dd will be in her winter uniform.

Hulababy · 19/04/2009 21:37

Have to admit that I much prefer it when DD is in summer uniform, and DH (the ironer in the family) definitely does. Who wouldn't prefer to wear a dress and cardi rather than shirt, tie, pinafore, etc.
