Bored of BBQs

There's been a few days of sunshine, it's kind of lovely. Spring is sprung, verdant green loveliness all around N7....aaaah.

Shame about every single fecker who has had a BBQ since it came over less than arctic, nauseating the air with accelerant and wafts of burnt meat.

Every neighbour in our row of houses at least once this month, at some really odd times of day, one even at 0930? Why?

God I miss fresh air.

Enjoying their BBQs and their gardens and nice food in nice weather. The bastards!

greatwhiteshark · 19/04/2009 17:44

Don't be such a misery guts. YABVU, and exagerrating too - I live in a very bbq-y area and I've smelt only one so far since the nice weather started, and attended only one too.

Have your own to drown out the smell.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 19/04/2009 17:44

I like BBQ's if they are well planned and i have cooked good food! I hate sitting in the garden and smelling BBQ's that i haven't been invited to!

Lulumama · 19/04/2009 17:45

yes, make everyone stay inside, let's face it, we get so many sunny days, what;s the point of making the best of them?

DH sometimes BBQs bacon or kippers in the morning.

good luck to him, i can barely boil the kettle before about 11am !

Lulumama · 19/04/2009 17:45

the smell is lovely, so evocative.

did i say YABU?!

Lovemyshoes · 19/04/2009 17:45

I don't blame them enjoying the weather, we don't get enough sunshine in this country.

I will be having a bbq tomorrow night and maybe one the night after if I fancy it.

Everyone knows that food tastes better cooked and eaten outside

It won't be long before we are complaining that we can`t go outside and enjoy the fresh air because of the crap weather.

Thunderduck · 19/04/2009 17:45

Everyone's nose seems to be bothering them at the moment.

rubyslippers · 19/04/2009 17:46

DH would BBQ every night of the year if he had his way

very much part of summer IMO

YABU

Lovemyshoes · 19/04/2009 17:47

Thunderduck, my nose is bothering me cos I've burnt the fecker in the sun today

Thunderduck · 19/04/2009 17:48

Ouch, that sounds painful. Hope you feel better soon.

Lovemyshoes · 19/04/2009 17:50

I'm fine lol, put some 8 hour cream on later and it'll be right as rain.

Funnily enough its the sticky out bits I've burnt, boobs and nose

Thunderduck · 19/04/2009 17:52

Boobs too? Double ouch. I hate sunburn. I'm such a wimp.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 19/04/2009 17:54

When i lived in New Zealand we had the hugest BBQ on the veranda next to our hot tub [insert pince emotion] we BBQ'ed huge juicy steaks most nights............ it was our landlords stuff but the 6 months we were there was bliss!

TitsalinaBumsquash · 19/04/2009 17:55

Ponce not pince

39and3quarters · 19/04/2009 18:10

Merryberry YANBU! I hate BBQs and have often wondered if I am the only one! My DH is not keen on them either (altho he likes to cook!) - maybe if he did, and did all the cooking I'd be more keen on them. If we have friends over in summer and the weather is good, I often find myself apologising for not having a BBQ - silly isn't it? I don't mind being invited to one and will enjoy it - it just annoys me how people have become so obsessed with them!

39and3quarters · 19/04/2009 18:47

noone on this thread - they are all at BBQs?

merryberry · 19/04/2009 21:25

lol

YABU. Had BBQ this evening. Yum.

elvislives · 19/04/2009 21:29

YANBU I hate BBQs with a passion

Every summer, slightest nice weather and out they all come. Wouldn't be so bad if it was all the same day, but as you say they seem to all have to have one on a different Saturday or Sunday so we don't get any peace.

Hate the smell, hate the noise.

Lilyloo · 19/04/2009 21:32

FGS people having bbq's in the rare sunshine
what's the world coming too!!!!

kickassangel · 19/04/2009 21:39

like this?

Hulababy · 19/04/2009 21:41

We don't have a BBQ but it seriously doens't bother me when those around us do have one.

BIL uses their BBQ to cook bacon or sausages for weekend breakfasts - saves messing up the kitchen with fat spitting

fruitbeard · 19/04/2009 21:44

Bored WITH!!! Not of!!!!

Sorry, I had to say it...

scienceteacher · 19/04/2009 21:49

Once a month? We BBQ all year round - at least once a week in winter and every day in summer.

I have been known to grill at 9am (when preparing meat for a picnic, or if we are having a fry-up for brekkie).

serin · 19/04/2009 22:15

It could be worse Merry you could live next to me.

We cook on a bonfire with skillets hung from a tripod, smoked porrige mmm!
