and there is not point treating them differently? I am just pissed off with all that 'oh he is a boy thats why he pushed/hit/snached toy' etc.

I feel sad to read such remarks when at the same time we have so many threads about DV. Am i the only one?

P.S. you dont need to be gentle with me. I can take it. Feel free to disagree

I agree!

If you treat a boy like that then it will become a self fulfilling prophecy won't it - he'll carry on behaving aggressively because it's what's expected.

Of course, there are huge differences between individual babies and children - and some will develop more assertive personalities, others will be shy etc but I think it's really weird that some people want to stereotype their babies to behave in a particular fashion

I ignore those sorts of comments.

People just like to have something to say and will pass on any old bit of drivel that they have picked up.

My DS and DD were totally different as babies but I think this is down to their different personalities rather than their gender. DS was quite demanding, hated cuddles, independent etc. while DD is the opposite, she's quite happy to sit and amuse herself, loves being cuddled and held and has stayed very much a baby desite being 14 months old.
I know as they get older hormones like testosterone do make little boys and girls different. This is why boys tend to be more aggresive, rough and tumble etc.
But if your asking specifically about babies then no I dont think there is any difference.
