Sweet dreams, DS. Corks make a wonderful mattress

Stayingsunnygirl · 18/04/2009 00:02

Well - I managed to get out of doing the ironing - dh got home just as I had finished sorting out all the non-ironing and was having a short mumsnet before starting to iron, and we went out to do the weekly shop instead - and now he's done the ironing!

Further to my previous post - my only daughter has taken up with a dreadful little oik of a man, and he's given her a horse - AIBU to make him keep it in his tiny garden?

theyoungvisiter · 18/04/2009 09:05

Sorry all, I went to bed last night!

Moomin - I don't quite Knowe about the yew tree, as it hasn't been pruned in a while, but yes, it might have been Noah once upon a time. Do you think I should be worried?

Balloon, the wife who got a raw deal, I was meaning poor old Mrs Gulliver!

Jelly - I love Brat toooooooooooo!!! In fact he makes me swoon throughout most of the book, especially when he's talking about his leg mending short (sob sob). Funnily enough I was going to do "AIBU to send a personable young man along to impersonate my neighbour's dead nephew?" but I was waiting until the Franchise Affair had gone past a bit as I didn't want to make the link!

We are going away for the weekend now, far, far from the civilising influence of Mumsnet so I must thank you all for a marvellous couple of days and wish you good guessing. I haven't had so much fun in ages!

(Shame the DCs had to make their own supper, put themselves to bed and generally fend for themselves. Still, it could have been worse, I could have got lost for 6 months or so and left them to cook chicken in a hay box and live in a barn, while everyone presumed I was dead, eh?)

You are all very clever and funny ladies (and possibly gents but I am guessing from the books on offer, probably mostly ladies )

TYV

xx

PS one last one before I go - don't think it's been done before:

My grandson is a bumbling buffoon with a stammer and various physical disabilities. AIBU to completely discount any possibility of a political career? He is, frankly, an embarrassment to our very high profile family.

I can't BELIEVE this thread is still going strong!

Hmmmm, I wonder if some time spent out of doors might help her out MMJ?

Quattrocento · 18/04/2009 12:15

YABU to die so inconsiderately MMJ, but I'm sure your daughter will spend a lot of time outdours and maybe even take up gardening.

salome64 · 18/04/2009 13:17

Morning ladies, fell sound asleep on sofa last night....see you all did swimmingly.

Quattro, I reckon some little mates of her own would help in her outdoor activities?

MoominMymbleandMy · 18/04/2009 13:21

Barn conversions are very chic TYV and learning to cook with a hay box teaches children the skills to cope with the credit crunch.

Your grandson will reach the highest political office so long as he keeps clear of Granny's home cooking and herbal remedies. He would also do well to avoid scheming nymphomaniacs.

salome64 · 18/04/2009 13:37

Just you and me moomin without lives on a Saturday?!!!

Struck by the idea our books are very girly choices, so gonna try some very 'masculine' literature.

think think think....

MoominMymbleandMy · 18/04/2009 13:37

MMJ, don't worry, your DD hardly saw you so she won't miss you.

llandb, it is quite alright for your DS to enjoy his own company but you might want to rethink his future career. I don't think he's cut out for the arena.

Is no-one going to advise my unappreciated musical child prodigy? Must she really go west to escape her horrible family?

salome64 · 18/04/2009 13:38

I can't divide it up like that! its too hard!

MoominMymbleandMy · 18/04/2009 13:43

Salome64, I have got a life but in the near future it consists of clearing the DD's room/pit so do you blame me?

Stayingsunnygirl, did you wear a crown in a previous life?

salome64 · 18/04/2009 13:46

I have a fab new job. It will be really hard work, but its just up my street. Problem is, my employee seems a wee bit strange. He was disabled while at work, and seems very bitter about it, and i have a sneaky feeling that our next job has more to do with getting back at whoever caused his disability than fulfilling our brief. AIBU to be worried? Should I rethink this project while I still have time?

MoominMymbleandMy · 18/04/2009 13:47

Blokey books...ok. AIBU to accept a job with a man I almost fought a duel with the other night because I am stranded in a foreign country with no money?

salome64 · 18/04/2009 13:47

sorry, should be employer, not employee!

salome64 · 18/04/2009 13:50

gawd! I should know this.

MoominMymbleandMy · 18/04/2009 13:55

Well, I have no clue on your one. Need a bit of help please. Or someone cleverer to come along.... Just because it took an hour to log in today is no excuse.

salome64 · 18/04/2009 14:02

You'd need good sea legs?

salome64 · 18/04/2009 14:03

Has yours got brightly coloured flowers in the title?

MoominMymbleandMy · 18/04/2009 14:05

Very good sea legs. Do you need them too?

MoominMymbleandMy · 18/04/2009 14:08

No flowers for either the musical prodigy or the thwarted duellist.

salome64 · 18/04/2009 14:12

Oh yes, everyone needs good sea legs in my job, or in the case of my boss, a good sea leg...

MoominMymbleandMy · 18/04/2009 14:15

Aha, do we need to stock up on parrot food?

salome64 · 18/04/2009 14:19

No quite parrot food, more fish food. VERY BIG fish food.

salome64 · 18/04/2009 14:20

still struggling with yours, btw...
