To want to be able to breathe air not perfume in my office?

I'm sitting at my desk and all I can smell is perfume as one of the ladies I work with likes to 'spray' at her desk a few times a day. Now I know she's menopausal and gets hot flushes so it may be she's paranoid about smelling but, it just makes me feel ill!

I get migraines and often her spraying these perfumes (or chemical smelling 'magicool') brings on my migraines or makes me feel sick. Another of the ladies also gets migraines from perfumes too, but often says 'that smells nice' which doesn't help.

I have made comments in the past about 'feeling not quite right' and being sensitive to smell, but as she's someone who can get quite catty I don't want to say to her 'please stop'.

You just have to ask her politely to stop it.No other way. I sympathise.I find perfume so offensive.

YANBU

i cannot bear strong perfumes

you can mention something about them triggering your migraines

I feel your pain.

I get sick too with sprays, migraines, feeling dizzy etc.

I worked once with Arabs (they love perfumes) and i was feeling like fainting every day

Tell her you are allergic.

Yep, I get migraines from other peeps perfumes too. But they wouldn't know that unless I told them. Perhaps you could get her one of those water mist sprays (from Boots) an just quietly explain she's making you sick (tactfully of course ). The direct approach with a solution in hand is often all it takes.

That or speak to your line manager who will be obliged to deal with the situation for you...
