Don't think I'm being too unreasonable to hope that dp would take a day off to spend some time with the family (kids on school holidays until next Tuesday). OK, we had nothing really planned and talked about maybe a day off this week. Now he's too busy at work. I'd like a little bit of time off myself!

Sigh......

so, next time ask him to book the time off work in advance

did you discuss it with him or hope he would do it?

DrZeus · 16/04/2009 15:11

Did discuss it.....maybe I wasn't clear enough. Next time I'll write it down.

yep = next time book the date out

Whit is coming up next month so get him to book a day now

CurlyhairedAssassin · 16/04/2009 15:20

If he's anything like my husband he'll need 3 months' notice, a big conversation at home about it, follow-up phone calls at work to say "Have you checked the leave diary for the 24th may?" or whatever, text reminders and reminders for him to put it on the calendar at home once he's booked it.

I've tried not doing the above after being accused of "nagging" and he left it too late and all the leave was taken, so now I'm back to the "nagging" . It's the only thing that seems to work.

Jeez, they are so disorganised......

I used to work with DH's boss, and have been known to threaten to call him myself to book the time off. I have never actually had to do it, but there is a glint in my eye at this point that makes it quite clear that if DH doesn't I will!

This Easter we planned round him being off this week, but he procrastinated as usual and so ended up with him having to take last week because someone else in his team got his first choice. Fortunately I don't work during school holidays, so we didn't have a child-care crisis, and it wasn't a huge problem. But DH was longing for time off and wanted the holiday even more than I did!
