Not to let older man have my taxi (sorry, long)

I'm 39 wks pg and went to lunch with my Granny in her sheltered accomodation. As it is a long bus journey with a change she insisted I got a taxi home and I didn't argue. So I rang a taxi, saw the driver coming up the path, told him I'd be there in a minute, said goodbye to my granny and walked out to the taxi to find another resident just getting in to it. I hung back a bit but the driver had already spoken to me so was looking for me, I agreed with the driver that it was my taxi - right flat number - but said the other guy could have it if the driver called me another taxi. However driver wanted to take me as they are only supposed to take bookings (also possbily because other guy was confused about where he was going) - so in the end the other man got out and I got in and went home. Another taxi was ordered for the other man who went back into the flats and seemed fairly steady on his feet but I'm still feeling guilty for not insisting he went. What do you think?

YANBU - you're heavily pregnant, you don't even know the other chap did want a cab, or just wandered out for something to do... Don't stress!

If it was a private hire taxi rather than a hackney cab I don't think they are insured if they don't take the person who booked the cab. Although i could be wrong. So personally I wouldn't worry about it. Plus at 39weeks i wouldn't have wanted to wait either!

No you did the right thing. private hire taxis are (I think) only allowed to take pre-booked fares, so if he was for you, then he was for you.

you did offer to let him have it, if you had raged at him that it was your booking I would understand you feeling bad. He could at least go back into the flats it isn't as if you left him standing in a blizzard.
Also at 39 weeks preggers I do feel you had more need on this occasion. Don't beat yourself up about this, it is nice that you are bothered though.
