but it is so pretty and i'd look really good pushing it down the high street with some vegetables in the basket and a straw hat on.

it's beautiful! won't you buy me one, too please?

nametaken · 12/04/2009 14:00

YABU - if you're only gonna use a bike 4 times a year get one for £80 from Halfords or Toys-r-Us.

cornsilk · 12/04/2009 14:01

Just get a taxi.

DisasterEggs · 12/04/2009 14:03

i've got one i don't ride in the shed. it is boring and uncomfortable to ride so i don't and take the car.
if i had a pretty on i might be more likely to get on it or push it or something.

If you can afford it why not.

DisasterEggs · 12/04/2009 14:06

not that i've got 400 quid. i haven't. but if i did i'd like to get a new bike. and a weekend away. and a apple tree. and some new t shirts. and a new tent.

Oh, get it. I love Pashleys with all my heart

katiestar · 12/04/2009 14:29

You would not be unreasonable if you were in your 60s or 70s but I wouldn't be seen dead with it !!

DSM · 12/04/2009 14:50

Katie - you wouldn't be seen dead with a Pashley? They are beautiful!

60's or 70's.. ha ha

DisasterEggs · 12/04/2009 14:53

now. who can lend me £400 for a beautiful bike and £200 for a beautiful tent?

OP posts:
Smithagain · 12/04/2009 14:56

Aw - it's beautiful.

Is there any prospect that you might enjoy riding it so much that you use it a lot more than four times??? Because if that's the case, it would definitely be worth it!

(Speaking as the owner of a £500 bike that I can't really justify, but it's a dream to ride compared to the dodgy, cheap mountain bike that DD2's seat it attached to.)

NorbertDentressangle · 12/04/2009 14:59

It looks like it should have a woven wicker basket on the front, full of fresh cut flowers, home-baked bread and a bottle of home-made lemonade (or should that be lashings of ginger beer?)

DP is into mountain biking and believe me £400 is cheap in comparison to what hes paid for bikes .

BloodyEar · 12/04/2009 15:01

I wouldn't be seen dead with it either! It's horrid! Like something my grandma would ride. Or perhaps someone from Little House....

stitchtime · 12/04/2009 15:02

err, wont the colour get covered in mud?

DisasterEggs · 12/04/2009 15:03

i wouldn't be riding in mud!!!

stitchtime · 12/04/2009 15:06

where would you be riding? in england everywhere gets muddy in the rain

look, just buy me a nice bike. problem solved

fruitbeard · 12/04/2009 15:06

It's gorgeous

My mum has a maroon Pashley with a wicker basket (and has had it since she was in her 40's - she's now 72 and still rides it so that works out at the equivalent of c.£13 a year, so entirely justifiable expense if you ask me).

I covet it

DisasterEggs · 12/04/2009 15:10

i picture myself riding sedately along the high street in the sun.
will save up.

OP posts:
stitchtime · 12/04/2009 15:11

aah, not in england then

DSM · 12/04/2009 15:12
