I know I'm being unreasonable but I need you to help me think of a reason why ds shouldn't spend a week in the summer with his medling granny please.

A bit of background, MIL (kind of, I was lucky not to marry ds's dad) has always been a meddler, she went into ds's school and asked them for a report because I didn't give her any info about ds as 'I was jealous that he got married', she dragged ds into a card shop to buy his (absent and previously spent more time in the pub then with ds) a fathers day card without asking me, I've witnessed her slap ds's cousin across the face for dragging a brolly on the floor (swears blind she doesn't hit children though), she 'forgets' to collect ds from school, constant criticism (what school I should send ds to etc), likes to meddle etc, told me ds's dad was loosing his job so the maintenance would stop (not true), there's alot more but I wouldn't want to bore you.

She only see's ds a few times a year but wants to take ds to see his aunt for a week in the summer. He's not been away from me any longer then one night, I need to get out of this. ds doesn't like her as she takes over and drags him around at her 99 miles an hour speed. Please help.
TIA.

Thanks Madam. I was planning on letting ds decide when he's older but his opinion of her has never changed. I don't talk about her when he's around so I don't think I've caused this. It's difficult, I always wish the best in people and hope. I'm fairly sure she'll forget, she's done this before, either this or play the sobbing card. I need to book that holiday.

cherryblossoms · 11/04/2009 01:15

Don't let it spoil your evening.

It's like someone shouting in the street - it's more about what's going on with them than anything about you.

FlukeU · 11/04/2009 01:15

I see.
I am being accused of flaming when in reality I am objecting to a post tht I find offensive.

Offensive on many levels. Derogatory accusations on a father that has no opportunity to defend himself? Indeed are the allegations true? It appears from the original poster that this man has tried many times to contact his son. His family also have made attempts at contact also, to be rejected. The poster states accusations
that I am assuming the people involved have no knowledge that her opinions are being made public, no right to reply, no right to respond..

Flaming? Not guilty.

Were you under the influence of Mr Harvey? Mr Jack Daniels? Mrs Stella or Mr Jim Bean FAQ?

FlukeU - i almost don't feel I should respond at all but, just in case you are genuine ...

Your responses sound disproportionate and overly-impassioned, which suggests your bringing more to this than a response to an AIBU situation. And yes, I know that we all so that to an extent, but even so.

Also FluffyBunnyGoneBad keeps replying in answer and your responses don't shift accordingly in response.

And as FBGB has said, this is about the mil, not the ex-p, whereas all your posts seem to be about that.

FluffyBunny - I wasn't going to offer an opinion on this, but since I'm here, I personally would find the worry about hitting to be quite serious. If you go ahead with increased contact, would you be able to make clear how unacceptable that would be? Would you be sure she would take that on board?
