To use the park and ride even though I don't need to.

Am genuinely curiosu about this.
I live 2 miles from town and have a bus stop at the end of my road and I normally have the buggy, DD1 (3.2) and DD2(18 months) to deal with. It is hit and miss as to whether you get an access bus so I always collapse the buggy which means struggling on with buggy while trying to stop DD@s jumping under the wheels. And then I have the same on teh way back.It costs £3.50

The park and ride is a mile the other way but the buses wait for everyone to get on patiently and have dedicated stops in town.
It costs £2.

AIBU to want to drive to the park and ride rather than get the bus at the end of my road?

Unless you are stopping anyone else from using it, do what suits you best. In your situation, I'm sure I would do the same thing.

YANBU, at all.

Surely it is a park and ride for you to park, and ride. And you do.

crokky · 05/04/2009 14:49

You have as much right as anyone else to use the park and ride, so I wouldn't worry.

Thanks! I have been struggling onto the other bus but they put the price up recently so it costs me (2 miles from last stop) the same price as someone who gets on teh first stop (20 miles away, oh yes, 20) so I just thought, fuck them. If they are that concerned about us using public transport they'd make it a bit easier!

besides, I could drive into town but don't want to!

(I could also walk to park and ride in about 20 minutes....but won't!)

not at all. Whatever works best for you.

JackBauerKilledTheEasterBunny · 05/04/2009 15:16

So why do I feel guilty for even considering it!

Because, you know in an ideal world you would not use your car to get to the bus. However in an ideal world, it would be cheaper to get the local bus, you would have no trouble getting a pram on and the park and ride locations would be in a better position (sorry that last one was my own rant)and this is not an ideal world so use the Park and ride

I will consider myself permitted

I would drive to town

JackBauerKilledTheEasterBunny · 06/04/2009 14:32

Ah, the secret option 3!
Driving to town is horrible what with new one way system, roadworks and parking that costs 3 or 4 quid, so actually cheaper to get park and ride.
I did it this morning and it is very civilised! Stops all roudn town as well instead of having to slog back to wherever we left car, lovely!
