I just caught her in the kitchen sitting on the chair with one leg crossed smoking an imaginary fag.

It's awful I now but it was really funny.

See now you're going to attract not-so-nutty people who tell you off for having people smoke in the house.

I reckon you're doing this on purpose!

sagacious · 03/04/2009 17:36

oooo its like a little drip feed thing

Now you have clouds of smoke from friends

Outrage !
Drama!

And your 2 year old is exposed to this !!!!

Passive smoking

[faints]

MrsMaker · 03/04/2009 17:37

Oh not i my house, but friends smoke in theirs.

I'm not trying to goad or do anything really. just hoped I wasn't alone in finding something I really shouldn't find funny, incredibly funny.

OP must try harder

psychomum5 · 03/04/2009 17:38

1000+ even

chegirl · 03/04/2009 17:38

My kids have done this in the past and I have been a bit . But when kids imitate adult behaviour is is often v.cute. Though it should be throughally discoraged of course!

Really not the same as sorting out a line or shooting up is it though

FAQinglovely · 03/04/2009 17:38

actually having said that I have found DS3 (22 months) on occasions with my tobacco sprinkled over the computer desk (where I sit to roll my fags) and my roller attempting to "roll" a cigarette

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 03/04/2009 17:38

Refuse to rise to Friday wind-up. One every week

Mark my words, there'll be chemically-laden drinks mentioned next

Rhubarb · 03/04/2009 17:38

Well I wouldn't find it funny per se, slightly amusing, not as amusing as this thread will turn out to be.

DevilsAdvocaat · 03/04/2009 17:40

i caught my ds pretending to drink a fruit shoot yesterday. i soon beat it out of him though.

FAQinglovely · 03/04/2009 17:40

DA - I can beat that - my DS3 is currently drinking a Fruit Shoot

Rhubarb · 03/04/2009 17:41

My dcs do pretend to be drunk sometimes though - and no they didn't get it from me!!!!

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 03/04/2009 17:41

Toddler pretending to smoke mildly amusing

Women on mumsnet up in arms about fuck all, hilarious

DevilsAdvocaat · 03/04/2009 17:42

it was when he started to pretend to eat battery farmed eggs that i got really cross.

MrsMaker · 03/04/2009 17:42

How is that any better than this?

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 03/04/2009 17:42

Bugger, I was trying to find something to suggest that smoking is as bad as heroin use but there was nothing I could find. I do recollect a drugs expert telling me that if tobacco was 'discovered' today, it would be a Class A drug.

  • I suppose you're right actually there Laurie. I have been very bored today.
pointydog · 03/04/2009 17:44

I'm concerned it was found to be incredibly funny.

A little smile perhaps.

noddyholder · 03/04/2009 17:45

Not the same as snorting or shooting up though which would indicate they had been exposed to some dodgy scenarios.lots of kids do this my son of course only ever emulated violin playing and cooking

PinkTulips · 03/04/2009 17:46

dd used do this.... she even made a little sucky sounds and then a blowy out sound

have to admit i had a wee fit of the giggles the first time she did it.

never said a word to her and she stopped doing it of her own accord.

think rhuby might have a point about the aim of this thread though

LadyOfWaffle · 03/04/2009 17:48

Well... it's not actually that funny. I don't mean because it's smoking, just in itself... not really hilarious. Wouldn't make 'You've been framed', which takes pretty un chuckle worthy stuff, for example.

pointydog · 03/04/2009 17:49

good rule of thumb, waffle. Would it make You've Been Framed. Or not. Would it stand alone with a harry hill voice over.

Quote from Health and Safety Execs OC 255/15

"The evidential link between individual circumstances of exposure to risk in
exempted premises will be hard to establish. In essence, HSE cannot
produce epidemiological evidence to link levels of exposure to SHS to the
raised risk of contracting specific diseases and it is therefore difficult to prove
health-related breaches of the Health and Safety at Work Act. Inspectors
are therefore urged to exercise caution in considering any formal
enforcement action in relation to SHS (with one exception ? see below).
However, the full impact of the smoking ban is difficult to foresee
completely, and if serious circumstances emerge where inspectors
believe they must consider enforcement, then they should consult
Health Unit and the Policy Team (see Annex 2 for contacts) before taking
action. The exception to this guidance relates to pre-existing health
conditions of employees which can be made worse by exposure to second
hand smoke e.g. respiratory or cardiovascular disease, or to pregnancy. In
such circumstances, specialist and medical advice may be necessary to
secure support for enforcement action."

The interesting bit is the bit where they say they can't prove a link between exposure to SHS (second hand smoke) and a raised risk of contracting specific diseases.

Make of that what you will.
