One of DDs friends had invited her to go to a theme park on Easter saturday for her birthday. When i asked about the arrangements Originally there were going to be 3 kids all aged 6 and 7, 3 adults and a baby. Today I find out there are now going to be 3 adults + 9 6&7-year-olds ,a 3 yr old and a baby. DH is really concerned that they won't be able to keep an eye on them all properly.DH is working so can't go ,If I go I would have to take my other 3 children so way too expoensive.Would you be concerned

One adult can have the baby and 3 yr old, 2 adults have 9 6-7 yr olds - sounds absolutely fine!

katiestar · 02/04/2009 16:30

There is a 3 yr old too

If the adults going are sensible and you know for a fact that they are then cluckyagain is right, they should be OK.

However, if there was the slightest inkling that the adults were dozy buggers, or laid back, irresponsible or stuiped with their own kids then I'd say no, especially on Easter Saturday which will be one of the theme parks busiest days of the year.

I understand your concern but I think 2 adults to 9 children is not too bad, are the 9 in question well behaved? Unless they are known for being tearaways?

nametaken · 02/04/2009 16:38

the bottom line is this - how well do you trust the adults going to safely look after your children? Coz there is friends I would allow and friends I wouldn't allow to do this.

jugglingwoman · 02/04/2009 16:40

The child protection ratio for groups of this age is 1 adult to 6 children so that's fine. With 3 adults you get one at the front, one at the back and one in the middle. It sounds like a lot of children but kids move in packs!

Don't worry unless you don't think they're responsible.

ScottishThistle · 02/04/2009 16:43

Totally depends on the adults/children involved. Responsible or scatty adults/well behaved or run a mock children?

I'm a Nanny and have been to theme parks many times with lots of children and other Nannies. I personally wouldn't take that many children to a theme park on a Saturday as you have to have eyes in the back of your head!

one adult will be looking after baby 100% of the time ,and maybe also the 3yr - wonder why that adult/baby is going - though prob to look after the 3yr

as depending where they are going a most/lot of rides at legland/thrope park etc arent suitable for babies, and some 3yr arent tall enough for rides (found this out last year, much to my friends dissapointment)

so that leaves 2 adults to 9 6/7 yr olds - lets hope thay ALL listen

also make them wear stickers with the friends mums mobile number on it - incase they can lost/seperated and then can call you/get person who found them to call you

Tigerschick · 02/04/2009 16:51

Agree that it depends on the natures of the adults and children involved. Assuming the adults concerned are sensible then it shouldn't be a problem.

Would also suggest the mobile-number-on-stickers idea like Blondeshavemorefun.

Thanks for your replies.
have rung their teacher (who is also a friend ) and asked her 'off the record' what she thought.
Result is I have rung the party mum and told her I will meet them at the gate and come too.She snatched my hand off !!!
Now I've just got to find someone to palm my other kids on !
