to adjust someone's washing on the only washing line between 22 flats?

Basically, as the title suggests. We live in a small block of flats, there are 22 flats in the block. Between us, we have one washing line out in the shared garden after the other 2 broke during the winter.

I've gone to hang out the washing today and someone has used 2 lines on each side, right in the middle of each side. This means there are only about 6 accessible lines around the whole thing. There are lots of empty lines, but to get to them would mean moving bits of washing around.

Would it be unreasonable of me to have a little shift around to enable others (ie me ) to hang their washing out? It really is very annoying, especially as I have 2 dc's, one of which is a baby, a serious damp and mould problem inside which makes me reluctant to hang too much inside iyswim.

I appreciate that others need to use the lines but I don't think IABU to expect that people would use them a little more considerately.

Perhaps they just were not thinking rather than deliberately being inconsiderate. I wouldn't touch someone else clothes but I would ask if they could move them.

Why haven't the other 2 broken lines been fixed since the winter?

Because the HA is pretty rubbish tbh. I have had an ongoing damp and mould problem in my flat since we moved in. I have reported it repeatedly to the HA, even involved Environmental Health and still nothing has been done.

I have now resorted to treating the damp and mould myself. I was thinking along the lines of buying my own washing line and bringing it in every day. It is so frustrating.

I suppose I wouldn't like it if someone else fingered my washing (although that has happened before).

Can you buy a clothes horse for yourself and put it outside when necessary. Or would it get vandalised. I sympathise.

You really do need to protest a bit louder about the broken lines though.

Do you know whose it is? Probably not if there are 22 possibilities, but better to ask if you can I reckon.

I have 2 airers which are going out now. They can stay out as long as they are chained to the fence because otherwise they will go walking.

I do know whose washing it is but they are not the nicest couple in the block and as they are alcoholics (well known around here) they are probably not in the most receptive of moods.

I won't touch it.

But I really want to....
