So its ds's turn to bring 'Fred Bear' home for the weekend.
You have to take it everywhere, entertain it and make yourself look more interesting than all the other families that have already stuck over the top pictures in the book since september

He comes with his own suitcase and has pj's, a towel, a bib, vest, jumper and a footie shirt.

The white stuff is practically black and the whole lot just stinks, so I put it all in the machine.

DH thinks IABU, but I think not

I don't suppose it matters, but it sounds very cute!!!

Mamii · 27/03/2009 13:51

Hurrah! Someone else with OCD

I do things like that all the time and my DH says I have OCD. Of course I just think I have slightly higher standards of cleanliness

(I'd probably have put the bear in too TBH)

So, bear is in for a fun packed weekend then?

YANBU.

DS1 has thos kind of thing, too, it's a stuffed tiger that comes to stay overnight (with no bloody warning, phone call, or reciprocal invite). DS1 goes to a v posh school and all the entries are hilarious.

"Tommy Tiger went to Berlin this weekend." "Tommy Tiger went skiing." "Tommy Tiger went to the theatre to watch my Mummy" .

Well, when he came to ours, he had fish fingers in front of CBBC and an early night.

YANBU. I probably would have popped down to town and bought him a new outfit.

BEAUTlFUL · 27/03/2009 13:54

I hate it when v boring posts are repeated!

I forgot, in Reception, I put the mascot in the wash as it was crawling.

pollywobbledoodle · 27/03/2009 13:54

depends whether you want the school to know how clean you are that you have ocd

Iklboo · 27/03/2009 13:56

Should take a picture 'Fred Bear is a modern bear and helps around the house'

ingles2 · 27/03/2009 13:56

YANBU, it's probably never been washed! [ugh]
I'm with wotulookinat... any excuse for a trip to buildabear

wotulookinat · 27/03/2009 13:58

Fred Bear could come and help me pick up the dog poo in the garden!

Fimbo · 27/03/2009 13:58

Oh I did this once, I got dd to write "I had a nice bath in the washing machine"

ThePellyandMe · 27/03/2009 14:02

The dS's playgroup used to have 'snow bear'. kind of that grey slushy colour snow rather than the white stuff

Other people used to get their dc's to draw pictures, long diary entries about snow bear going on all sorts of trips.

I was so tempted to put 'snow bear sat at the back of the cupboard and only came out when time to return to playgroup'. Instead I had to spend at least 2 mins of my life making up crap that we had done and hope the ds's wouldn't tell them mummy was lying!

Bonneville · 27/03/2009 14:05

Oh God I remember dd2 bringing the bear home once and its mouth was covered in minging toothpaste (Had previously had its 'teeth' cleaned) YUK!

OrmIrian · 27/03/2009 14:08

Fred Bear drank too much of daddy's scotch and slept behind the sofa all weekend.

wotulookinat · 27/03/2009 14:09

Sadly Fred Bear lost when playing with the dog. He has been replaced by George Bear.

mosschops30 · 27/03/2009 14:14

Lol so glad lots of you wouldve done the same!

Yes lots of that sort of stuff in the book about what they did all weekend, im wondering if I should leave out mine and ds's trip to Macdonalds this afternoon.

Wish I could wash bear but he has a huge hole in the back of him so worried he might fall apart.

Should I write in the book, 'XXX mummy couldnt believe my clothes were so dirty, she thought I was a tramp, so she put them all in the washing machine'

DD brought home a 'bug box' once, full of info on garden bugs and loads of plastic creepy-crawlies. I spent the whole weekend paranoid she'd loose them, counting plastic ants and spiders, urgh!

I would have washed Fred too, sounds icky.

PinkBubblesGoApe · 27/03/2009 14:29

Oops, I meant Fred's clothes...

Jackfrostmanson · 27/03/2009 14:34

I would have washed his clothes and sewed him up so that fred could have a bath
Thank goodness DD school does nothing like this

babster · 27/03/2009 14:40

I washed the bear from nursery and mended her dungarees. I think the staff were grateful rather than offended - it saved them the job! So YANBU.

BEAUTlFUL · 27/03/2009 22:07

"Fred Bear made Mummy make strange noises. Fred Bear hurted Mummy. Mummy shutted her bedroom door and said she wold be out in a minute. Then I think he had a bath."

5Foot5 · 28/03/2009 17:11

We had a really manky DD for the weekend when DD was small. Same thing - you had to take it everywhere and write in its diary. Didn't wash it but I made sure she didn't have it in bed with her.

A friend said when it was their turn she gave it a good squirt of Febreze before she let her dd handle it!

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2009 17:37

Nip out and buy a female bear. Then he can go back to the classroom with stories of his girlfriend. Next time you have him, they can elope, and that will be the end of it.

Comewhinewithme · 28/03/2009 17:47

We have the class bear for the weekend too . DD's teacher thought it would be fun for Zac to come home and help dd celebrate her birthday so aswell as organising loads of birthday stuff I have to make sure a bear is having a good time too .

ChippingIn · 30/03/2009 01:36

Beautiful - I bet Tommy Tiger really enjoyed a day in the real world!!

We have a visiting Bear too - his clothes get the full laundry service while here and he often gets taken shopping for a new top/pair of shorts as well... the girls love it Unfortunately he doesn't have a twin brother and that causes the odd problem here !! LOL

5foot5 you had a really manky DD? Ewww....

LOL
