It's getting to me now.

Skanky filthy neighbours who shout at each other even when not arguing, just their way of talking to each other

They are filthy, stink, sometimes even play their music up loud in the night (only for one song though, so that's alright)....

I don't wish to hear them shouting obsenities at each other, nor do I wish for my child to hear it. AIBU????

Anything I can do to drown out the noise???? Whats up with the floorboards, there is concrete between the floors and yet you can hear everything.

It is not all the time, but it's alot.

GIVE ME STRENGTH...............

nickytwotimes · 26/03/2009 20:23

YANBU.
It sucks having horrible neighbours.

nancy75 · 26/03/2009 20:23

have you got carpet or wooden floor?

NorbertDentressangle · 26/03/2009 20:25

Is it private/rented/council owned?

Just wondering if theres anyone you can complain to or ask for extra soundproofing

glitterstar88 · 26/03/2009 20:31

YANBU, i have the same problem, i also get my neighbours cigarette smoke too when im in the bath or eating dinner in my kitchen.

amireallythatsad · 26/03/2009 20:47

I get smoke too!!!! It's disgusting! I've got neutradol airfresheners everywhere! It smells like I've been smoking in my flat.

My flat we own - downstairs is council.

We've got lovely oak wooden floor but bad idea for soundproofing - is there anything I can do to soundproof apart from getting carpet. (Then again they must hear DD stomping all over the floor all day )

I have complained about the general stench and nastiness. They do have cleaners supplied now as he is disabled but I have to mow their front lawn (if I don't it gets overgrown and disgusting and my front door opens out directly onto it).

Their dog also craps in their garden but they never clear it up so the flies are lovely. And they never walk it.

Sorry I should add is discretly complained to the council and they got cleaners.

Have to be careful though as have complained before to council and they let slip that one of the neighbours had complained and the lady came round and threatened us.

That was about 2 years ago and she doesn't say anymore as my ex-h got v.angry and carried her back to her flat, as she wouldn't get off our doorstep

I don't want to say too much as H has left now and I'm on my own with DD. Would love to move but can't afford it.

Enough stress as it is as I'm trying to sort out going back to work to support us and childcare, this just feels like another thing to contend with.

It's the most horrible thing. Poor you. We had a group of early twenty something boys upstairs from us for ages who were a TOTAL nightmare. Nothing we said made any difference to the parties, stomping around, and middle of the night drunken arguments. Not very encouraging for you but the point of got better was when they moved out. My DH rather charmingly re-named them 'Captain Spanky and the bum sniffers.' Apparently adolescent humour within our four Walls was the only tool at our disposal.

glitterstar88 · 26/03/2009 20:57

Have you tried ringing evironmental health services about the smoke? I spoke to my local concil about it. They were going to come round and take a sample of air to see how bad it was. But i cant be bothered with it now as i know i'll just get a face full of abuse if my neighbours think that im complaining about them again.

amireallythatsad · 26/03/2009 21:02

I did call the council about the smoke, but they said there was nothing they could do??

The only thing I can think of is every time they put music on in the night, I'm gonna get up in the morning with DD - so around 7am, and put my music on REALLY REALLY LOUDLY.....they're still in their drunken stupor.

Or take to doing some lawn mowing in the am.
