to actually enjoy housework?

I think this may be partly down to novelty factor (slattern), but spent Friday cleaning like a madwoman (even windows!) and enjoyed the satisfaction of being able to see the outside world and having a home where I could see surfaces (and they didn't even have dust on them).

YANBU - can you come and do mine?

Problem is it's a pretty thankless task and i have approx 14.25 hours a month when my house looks like that. Then it's back to square one.

I love cleaning and would seriously do it all day long if i could.

I had a eureka moment a few months ago involving white vinegar and cleaning a kettle (AMAZING) and then went mental with the vinegar all over the flat.

It is very satisfying, I have to say. Maybe I should clean more? Hmmm

Bleh, I think you're right about the novelty factor. To fully qualify as a housework lover, you need to look at the kitchen floor every morning, and think "ooooh good, it needs cleaning!". Then think "oooooh good, then I can do the dusting/hoovering/washing-up/ironing/change the beds/bathroom/windows/etc". Mumsnet doesn't feature!

I feel great when I do some cleaning - it's so satisfying to have something looking nice and tidy and clean.

But 10 mins later it's back to how it was before.

So vast majority of time I do minimum necessary to avoid outright squalor

I put it down to novetly too...

Dingbatgirl · 26/03/2009 17:14

I find housework very dull, and have to force myself to do it so that we don't live in squalor. It's a shame 'How Clean is Your House' with Kim & Aggie isn't on telly at the moment, it motivates me to get on with it!

blossomsmine · 27/03/2009 00:06

I do actually enjoy cleaning and how it looks when you have finished, but, don't you ever switch the tv on and find you don't want to get up again??? Just me then??

moondog · 27/03/2009 00:07

I love housework and a clean house too.I take a day off work about every 2 months and blitz from top to bottom-every single nork and cranny.
Next one booked in for Monday.
