To think pizza "express" is an oxymoron

bloody hour an ten minutes to get our food - as in, the olives!!!! Another ten minutes before the pizza came!

Went to pizza express tonight, went with my old work mates, not seen them for ages - DP was late home (expected) so i was umming and ahhing all day whether to go and take DD (3.5). The table was booked for half six, we usually eat at home about 7 to half past, figured we would be done and dusted by 8!! Oh no - my poor DD waited an hour and ten minutes!!! She got irritable but was really good, sat on my lap and fell asleep before her food came. Then they needed reminding to bring her all the things included on her meal deal. DDs desserts and everyones coffes came in dribs and drabs, the bill took ages - finally got out of there at 9pm, with disapproving looks from other diners for having my DD out so late. Well yes, i would have been disapproving too!!

The food was lovely actually otherwise i would have complained, well i would have complained anyway but didnt want to spoil things for my friends - we haven't seen each other for ages. I could have actually left DD with my mum, but she loves pizza and wanted to come and it was early enough, so why not. GRRRRRRRR completely ruined my evening. I guess it is too late to complain isnt it????

Drop them an email.

You waited an hour and ten mins and didn't complain ? I'd have complained after 10-15 mins without expected olives. Not in a big make a fass and strike the waitress down with lightening sort of way, but I'd have asked nicely where they were. More than once if need be .

Why disapprove of children out late? all families are different. On the continent it's quite common .

Not an oxymoron - maybe a misnomer

It does sound like a nightmare.

I recently posted a similar thread about the inappropriateness (if such a word exists) of Optical Express name.(Should be renamed "Optical by-the-time-you-have waited-for-our-eye-test-your-eyesight-will-be-considerably-worse",though I guess that would be tricky to fit on a sign, really.

grendle, you know how it is, you wait and you think, surely they will be here in a minute!! I was stuck in the corner with my sleeping child on my lap - no waiting staff yep will be sending them an email.

Iotascat - ive never had reason to use oxymoron before, so thought id cash in on it

LOL I was wondering if your post was going to be by the friend I had dinner with the other night (and both lots of kids!!).

PE near us are a right PITA when you arrive (usually have 4 or 5 of them one after the other asking if you are ready to order) and we're generally still taking coats etc off!! Then the starter arrives, dinner after quite a wait - then fecking forever before the kids ice cream comes and the bill, we have decided to tell them the ice cream order and to do the bill straight away next time!! (No other places to take kids to where we are and the food is nice when you get it).
