Damn that Lelli Kelly . It's not my money so I can't really be cheesed off but dd's nan asked what she would really like for her Easter present as she hasn't seen her for a while and she can't come to see us at Easter as planned. Well dd has seen an advert for these shoes and surpried me by asking for them (I would have put money on her asking for a my little pony or other plastic tat). I told her nan not to bother as they were ridiculous and expensive but she said noooooo, dd must have them, she'll put the money into my bank account. (This AIBU is not about nan btw, who is lovely and far too generous) This AIBU is about how one pair of fecking KIDS shoes can cost £46 I had thought that they would at least be leather but from what I can see they are just blinged up Doodles. Dd is very happy with them but I can't help thinking that the advertising is horrible- I finally saw the advert tonight and I think dd wanted the lipgloss more than anything- O am quite sure that she would not lust after a pair of Clarks like this Am I just tight? That would buy a weeks worth of food! I remember when I was little being desperate for the shoes with the key in the sole but I am pretty sure that those were at least practical!

DD will be getting a pair of these only over my dead body. And probably not even then.

Have only seen leather Lelli Kelly shoes and sandals, which I don't think £46 is that bad for and in line with other similar types of shoes. Have had these and been very pleased with the quality and the way they lasted. And DD did love them Even the pump ones were leather inners and soles.

littlelamb · 24/03/2009 20:27

Oh Hula,I really hope they do last. I just went to check on dd and she is cuddling them so at least she loves them

pmsl @ blinged-up doodles

I wandered in thinking someone's dc had a 'thing' for converse .... which is pretty much as bad.

NorbertDentressangle · 24/03/2009 20:31

They are really over priced and foul IMO (and, luckily, also in DD's opinion).

The only thing worse than Lelli Kelly shoes are the Lelli Kelly boots we saw last year.

lollyheart · 24/03/2009 20:31

My 4 yr old dd wants a pair, no way am i paying that tho

She has a pretty pair of doodles instead for only £16

Hulababy · 24/03/2009 20:33

Just think of the number of women - many on MN too - who spend hundreds of pounds on shoes for themselves. Do they really need to spend the amount they do? Of course not.

Hey - it was her present choice, and she loves them. No worse to spend money on them than on a bit of plastic Barbie or Polly Pocket tat. If she loves them at least she will want to wear them.

Reminds me too - I have a pair of LK boots in good nick I need to sell, plus some LK sandals somewhere. Best go find them out from somewhere.

Hulababy · 24/03/2009 20:34

Ah, you see DD has Converse boots too - but they cost us £10 in a closing down sale They are not as good a quality as the LK were/

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 24/03/2009 20:35

My daughter also covets a pair of Lelli Kellis but I too refuse to pay £45 for a pair of blinged up Doodles (to quote Littlelamb). The price is insane so YANBU.

poorbuthappy · 24/03/2009 21:47

I refused to buy LKs, but my sister bought DD a pair for her birthday last year. At least she bought the leather trainers rather than the blinged up doodles...(you might want to trademark that comment...) and fair play they have been worn to death and are still in good nick...
Would I buy another pair? Not on your nelly Lelli Kelly...

I have just googled - so far out of the loop it's actually funny.

Love the badly translated website

"thought for sweeting in cleanliness"

WTF does that mean?
