for the next couple of years i will be a student. my bursary just about covers what i was earning before so not financially worse off.
i plan on doing a few bank shifts here and there to save some cash for a specific trip i'd like to make.
admittedly DH and the DDs wouldn't be invited. this would be a trip for me.
sincetentitively suggesting to DH and my mother this is what i plan they have criticised, taken the piss, told me it is a ridiculous plan and generally rubbished the idea.
bollocks to them.
i'm going anyway.
AIBU to not tell them any more, save up and let them know the day before i go.

Think how you'd feel if DH did the same to you. I'm not sure I'd be chuffed. Why are they criticising and taking the piss? Why don't they approve of your trip?

its not they don't approve. just think it a bit random and not very conservative/sensible and not much like what i'd normally do.
if DH wanted very much to do something i like to think i'd be supportive and not take the piss out of something he believed in.

DH wouldn't want to go. really he wouldn't is connected with new career plan and being a student. also not elvis or religious, although would quite like to bo both of those too some day
