i jsut made excuses and did one.
feeling a bit guilty and like i should go abck and see what went on, but its none of my buisiness and i dont want to get involved.

The joys of families hey? When we go to my MIL's she just goes on about some random person who my DH has never heard of who's died or who's nephew has gone to prison, "you know, Beryl who used to own the wool shop in Bassett high street?"

I would probably have told her you don't want to get involved. I don't like discussing absent members of my family behind their backs, alot of MSN problems seem to arise because people hear things that various family members have been saying about them in their absence.
I'd make it clear it's up to dad and sister to sort out, unless the 2 of them want you to act as some sort of intermediary.
Having an argument with your mum on mothers day probably wouldn't be a good idea though, so making an excuse and leaving today is probably sensible.
