Moondog - that's the reporter that said those things - just pointing out what I should imagine were some pretty obvious things to the naked eye

The same article says that

"Louise is not inclined to blame the government for her difficulties. She is grateful for the money she gets every week and doesn't think her life would be much enhanced by increased payments."

as I said it was a school that was run on the old assisted places scheme (still exists in Scotland I believe, but been phased out in England), neant that at one point when I was there over 1/2 of us didn't pay a penny (mind you at that point there were only 48 in the school aged between 7 and 18 )

Mizzidee - you get some 'privert' boarding schools that do. Charitable boarding school, and some that award scholarships.

My ex went to a huge charitable boarding school in England. He was from a poor, single parent family, and was boarding with millionaires children.

So there.

mizzidee · 24/03/2009 22:03

How can 'DEAN' be worse than 'cunt'? i am now baffled.
DSM go call the people at your PONY CLUBS a cunt...lol your probably get flung out & banned.

FAQinglovely · 24/03/2009 22:04

well she could always go and quote Shakespeares play on the word at them (the most famous on, he did a few) I'm sure they wouldn't throw her out then.

I don't, nor have I ever, attended a pony club.

I am baffled myself, honestly, what does dean mean to you?!

Ever.

But, carry on Mizzidee.

poshwellies · 24/03/2009 22:06

Tally Ho!

Chellesgirl · 24/03/2009 22:07

I think mizidee might have been taking the piss out of my previous comments about illegal immigrants. hahahaha I thought that was my argument anyways and i thought it was done and dusted with

mizzidee · 24/03/2009 22:07

well no - the rich kids paid the full fees (was about £6000 a term back then no doubt a lot more than that now given it's been some years since I left school) - we all got the same professional music teachers.

DSM · 24/03/2009 22:13

Yes, charity boarding school where the poor and rich go. Are you honestly telling me you think this isn't true?

the particular one he went to was called Christs Hospital, somewhere near-ish London, as he is from inner London.

He isn't telling me fibs dear, you can google it if you like. Its real and everythink.

Oh, and I don't recall him ever telling me about 'polo club'.

FAQinglovely · 24/03/2009 22:14

and I must correct my error, it was the aided places scheme, not assisted places

It's the my 'Little Pony club' Mizzi..

Quite famous-have you not heard of it?

Chellesgirl · 24/03/2009 22:18

I think charity boarding schools are an amazing idea. Its exactly what children need. to be able to mix with different social classes and to be able to be teached the same lessons and with a possibility of getting high grades.

I dont see whats wrong with them to be fair, There should be more of them.

DSM · 24/03/2009 22:19

Chellesgirl - I have not agreed with a few things you have said before, but I wholeheartedly agree with that post.

Chellesgirl · 24/03/2009 22:19

'sorry, taught* not teached!' Oh well you can tell I went to a posh school.

DSM · 24/03/2009 22:20

I wasn't going to say..

Chellesgirl · 24/03/2009 22:21

i know DSM...haha I can be a right stuck up cow sometimes. Tonight....well... im feeling okaaaay hehe

mizzidee · 24/03/2009 22:22

lol.. thats most probably it ilovetiffany to be completely honest. If i mentioned the word C*NT to my father i dread to think what would happen or what he would make of it. He certainly wouldnt want that type of behaviour or attitude around his businesses, i mean why would he? why lose business because your daughter is a commoner & blatenly expresses it.

FAQinglovely · 24/03/2009 22:23

actually mine was one of the officially recognised MDS (music and dance scheme) schools - there were originally 5, now there's 8.

Was great - as noone was there on the basis of how rich their parents were, everyone was there because they were musical, so we all had something in common with each other.

I see even now that the "threshold" for boarding pupils is just under £12k, meaning that if (in the highly likely event) one of my DS's were to be musically talented and get a place there I wouldn't have to pay a penny and they'd have the same access to 1st class teachers than Jocasata van-da-moneybags who also attends the school does - only difference would be that Jocasta's parents would be paying the full fees.
