I have had a really really bad headache, to the point where I've been having to have breaks to shut my eyes

It's still the same now, even though I've taken something

DD's want feeding but I feel so sick and drained

AIBU to let dd1 make sandwiches/toast for them for their tea tonight, or do I really have to cook?

They had a packed lunch earlier

I wouldn't give it a second thought. Give them whatever you can throw together. If you're ill, you're ill.

GossipMonger · 19/03/2009 16:24

It will not hurt them to have sandwiches again

Let dd make them and close your eyes.

norksinmywaistband · 19/03/2009 16:24

Can you open a tin of soup/beans or egg on toast - not much more effort than a sandwich but a little more substantial

Thanks ladies

NIMWB, no eggs and they don't like beans. I might put some fishfingers in oven so they can have those in sandwiches

My DD would live on toast & marmite for meals and olives for between meal snacks if left to her own devices. As a one off don't let it worry you at all.

Rhubarb · 19/03/2009 16:39

How about jacket spuds? Put them in the oven now and they'll be done for 5.30. Grate some cheese over, add a bit of salad and that should satisfy them.

mylifemykids · 19/03/2009 16:46

Mine had 2 picnics yesterday, one in the park at lunch time and one in the garden in the evening because I couldn't be bothered to cook!

I don't think it really matters once in a while does it!?

Fairynufff · 19/03/2009 16:47

I class making sandwiches or toast as cooking...

mylifemykids · 19/03/2009 16:48

I chopped an apple as well that counts too right?!

jesuswhatnext · 19/03/2009 16:51

how old is dd? can the kids walk to the chippy for something hot (fish and chips is only the work of the devil if eaten every night, not just when mum has a migraine )

Fairynufff · 19/03/2009 16:51

Simple produce, locally sourced... chopping an apple is up there. Gordon and Jamie would be proud

Rhubarb · 19/03/2009 16:52

Doubt the apple would be locally sourced this time of the year!

Fairynufff · 19/03/2009 16:52

Again..chippy - simple produce, locally sourced..

Fairynufff · 19/03/2009 16:53

The fruit bowl isn't local?

That's why I always have fish fingers and chips in the freezer. 10 minutes on Combi Turbo-Cook in the microwave. No need even for cutlery, just plates.

Though if your dd is old enough to make sandwiches, then good on her. It's a good opportunity for her to help you and practice independance.

(Ah, the microwave just went ping. I'll go and dish up. )

Fairynufff · 19/03/2009 16:58

Sardines on toast is surprisingly easy and full of omega 3. I don't eat it cos I'm veggy but the kids love it.

Rhubarb · 19/03/2009 16:59

Mine love sardines too, which is weird.

I still reckon jackets are less effort.

Fairynufff · 19/03/2009 17:05

Ha Ha just re-read my "surprisingly easy" to describe something on toast... just shows how rubbish I am in the kitchen.
