To think South West trains are run by morons

So today its my mums birthday and I take DSs to school and head off to get the 9.36 to my mums, the 9.06 was delayed and came in at 9.30 so I get on it as it is going to my stop...Once on the train it pulls off and then announces it will be stopping at the next station and then not again until London So I get off at the next stop and wait, first train in is not going to my stop ( the line splits and although all the trains go to London the go different ways) 2nd train in is announced as going to my stop so I get on it and it pulls off, they then announce this train will be going via the route that does not stop at the station so I have to get off at the next stop again and go back.... as I have to be back for the school pick up it is now getting too lte for me to go at all with all the getting on off and waiting.

Would it be asking too much to make up your minds and tell us where the train is definitely going BEFORE you shut the sodding door and pull off and people are stuck going up and down like a whores knickers would it really be too much!!!!!

I am going to get a car and drive EVERYWHERE and anyone say about my carbon foot print and I shall stab them with my oyster card!!!!

You're right they are.

Also so are One Anglia for future reference. Also whoever designed Cambridge station and put the M&S outside the barriers so that if you've got a changeover there you can stare forlornly at the chance of having a sandwich but not actually eat one...

Kimi · 19/03/2009 11:50

My sister is moving to Cambridge, I shall warn her about the trains.

ah they do the "taunting by M&S" at Richmond too.

Kimi · 19/03/2009 12:12

I was heading to Richmond today....unwillingly

bloody train bloody companies. How stupid, only announcing the changes once the train has set off. Grrrr.

John Major and his government were absolute arses about privatising the ruddy railway. And Blair was no better - had the chance to take it back and refused. (When they stripped one company of its franchise, it proved that publicly-owned railways are better run, but govt. still insisted on selling it off again.)

Railways are now run by companies that don't actually like railways or care about how well-run they are. Just interested in extracting as much money as possible by torturing passengers.

Well I went to 4 stations not of them the one I wanted, took over an hour and I still did not get to my mum .

great way to waste £5.50

Its not One now Law its National Express East Anglia! I have to say I had a very good experience with them last year, overhead power cables were down, my ds who has special needs was with me at Liverpool St. I asked for disabled assistance and they put us on a train to Shenfield and then paid £260 for a taxi to take us back to Diss!!

Lilymaid · 19/03/2009 20:31

You had better help than back in the days of One (such a stupid name) in January 2007 when there were high winds and the company closed Liverpool St Station leaving commuters stranded. The staff all disappeared home leaving the poor police to deal with thousands of aggrieved commuters.
The barriers at Cambridge Station were only put in a few months ago - before that anyone could get onto the platform or visit M&S between trains.

YANBU. They're ridiculously rubbish. I once actually sent them a message (just after they'd hiked up the prices. Again) asking how they could possibly justify charging £30 return for what can sometimes be an hour long trip (50p a minute?!) both ways. strangely, I never got a response ...
Also, I read in an article once that some services (between Birmingham and London) were faster during the frikkin' VICTORIAN era than they are now. They're also planning on reducing capacity by between 30 and 40% (even though the train services into London are filled at about 40% above capacity during peak times). The final straw was when some twonk from the Ministry of Transport said "If you don't like or want to travel on busy trains, don't commute during rush hour". Rush hour in London officially lasts from 6:30am to 10:00am. What planet do these people live on?!

Rant over.

SexyDomesticatedDad · 20/03/2009 12:34

YANBU - other religous groups should also be allowed to run SW trains - why should the Osmonds and the like have a monopoly on this.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 20/03/2009 12:39

'One' was such a stupid name.

'The twelve thirty One train will leave from platform 2'
'The twelve thirty one train will leave from....'

Duh.

Glad I am not alone

Oh, you are sooooo not alone.

My personal pet hate is when the trains aren't working and the platform gets sooooo crowded that eventually people turn around and go back and they still get all stroppy with you and start insisting on evreyone going through the ONE channel so they can prove that they are there legally. I always want to scream "THERE HASN'T BEEN A TRAIN THROUGH HERE IN 30 MINUTES, DO YOU SERIOUSLY THINK THAT I'VE CRAWLED ILLEGALLY ALONG THE LINE FROM GUILDFORD AND DON'T HAVE A TRAVEL CARD FOR ZONE 3?!?!?!!?"

Kimi · 20/03/2009 14:36

LOL,
