Just been looking at ticket prices - 1 adult to the South Coast (I live South so not very far) and it's £30 odd WHY would anyone (given the choice) pick trains over jumping in the car. Esp. if there is 2 adults, and you want a return. Cost about £10 - 20 in petrol, even with todays prices!

Where are you looking at ticket prices? If you can book in advance there are huge discounts offered with some Websites.

We recently booked to travel from the Southeast to Devon for a boozy weekend and obviously didn't want to take the car due to the booziness, we paid £35 return each which I thought was really good.
