In sling rather than buggy, obviously!

What do you think? I went last year when I was pg and it was very hot (don't think it will be this year - it is a week tomorrow) and a bit mad but I have more of an idea what I am going for this time.

I've helped run loads of NCT sales and there are always babies in slings. Shouldn't be a problem. If you need to feed your baby (breast or bottle) they will happily find you a quiet corner (or at least we always did at our sales).

It's not question of R or U - it's madness!
Those bitches show no mercy.

i was going to say, if you do, use a sling.

i'm going to be sellingat one in paril hopefully, cant wait, will volenteer as well so i can havea sneaky peak

Took my dd in a sling loads a times, easier than a buggy and she loved it.

going to one myself tomorrow but she is now too big for the sling ... so will have to take the buggy - and maybe park it and use the reins.

Have done it with baby in sling - it's manageable, if a bit mad.

Have also attempted it with free range toddler - never again!!!!

( Why do mothers leave all maternal instincts at home when confronted by the availability of second hand stuff?! )

fruitbeard · 13/03/2009 20:49

Every NCT sale I've ever been involved with has banned buggies at the door - so do take slings/reins/whatever or you will get very fed up having to carry/chase after your child!

i'm taking my 5 1/2 month old DD to nearly new sale tomorrow morning in a sling. Wish me luck!!
leaving toddler at home with DH though - not completely crazy.
Have taken baby in sling before to nct sale. only problem was baby getting banged on head by general mayhem and difficulty accessing stuff on the floor!

sazlocks · 13/03/2009 22:35

you'll be fine - I have been to 2 with my DS in a sling. I am going to one a week tomorrow as well although he is getting a bit heavy now at 14 months to be carried for too long in his sling !
Best tip I heard was to take a huge bag with you and load anything that looks vaguely interesting/useful into it and then retire to a quiet corner to decide what you want to buy.

Have just come back from our first NCT NN sale and it hadn't occurred to me not to take DD in her buggy, so thank you for the tips. Piranhas stripping a cow was an image that sprang to mind

Free range toddlers can be helpful at such sales. Took mine yesterday (had no choice as Dh was busy and parentals were on hols) and after the bribe of a cheese straw and visit to the park afterwards, she gaily joined in searching for stuff. Her height (or lack of it) came in handy for searching out those toys hidden way under the toy table, and bagged a bargain in 3 puzzles for a quid

And it's all well and good banning babies in buggys from the sales but why then do they still sell them and still have woman banging into you pushing their new bargains
