To want to go into the Post Office without someone desperately trying to sell me life insurance, an ISA, broadband, etc.

The Post Office in my local town (where I go every week for my CHB) has suddenly started this ridiculous regime of realing off a huge sales speil about their "fantastic life insurance" and "great phone and broadband offers". And that's not the worst bit. When you politely try to decline, they just keep persisting, giving you a leaflet with a reference no and their name on it! I was offered an ISA< but said I already have an account. "With us?" asked the woman. "No the bank". Oh ut they can offer me a much better rate, in an ISA. I proceeded to tell them I don't have enough money for an ISA, I was assured that I could open it with just £1. GET THE HINT - I don't want it! . Oh and apparently being on a joint LI policy with DP isn't good enough, I should get one of my own!

How annoying!

Think the PO staff must be under an enormous amount of pressure to do this though, like the staff in clothes shops (esp. Dotty Ps) who are always trying to get you to open a store card account.

I wonder if they are on commission?

I think they probably are on commission TBH, I don't really mind being asked, but it's the persistence that annoys me. At least in clothes shops if you say you don't want the store card they get the hint.

That probably explains why I can be queing up to 45 minutes to be served in mine. That and the fact they have 12 counters and only 2 open!

This happened to me twice this week in our Post Office -they've never done it before so it must be new thing.

Once they asked about a mobile top-up and the other time it was about life insurance. They didn't push it when I politely said I wasn't interested though
