I HATE world book day.............

makes for children expecting miracles, and mums feeling inadiquate, and costumes looking nothing like they should, and children not winning prizes, and books being thrown for building hopes up...............

My suggestion was to go as the cheshire cat - leave a big grin at school office and then bugger off, but DS1 wants to go as a dinosaur. Children these days!

I did make ds a gondola (lift that goes up a mountain) costume once. But that was to win a trip to Melbourne for 2 people - and he did win and we had a great holiday.

Last yar, I had a fantastic looking trio in my class - Harry, Hermione and Ron. Noone in the school could beat them! And it hadn't been planned in advance by them either!

I went in jeans, scruffy t-shirt, hair a bit messy, big bar of choc in my pocket and a piece of gold card with 'Golden Ticket' written on it- voila, Charlie Bucket and, even better, and I got to spend the day nibbling chocolate!

I'llput mine up later but DS2 went as an oompa loompa and looked ace (we thought) but I have asome of the ornage face paint he is coated with on my fingers and it won't come off,even with baby wipes (old performers tip that, baby wipes).
