Potty training for 1 week, I go to work Dp puts dd back into a nappy

Title says it all really. I have been potty training my 2.5 year old dd since Monday, but have just spoken to Dp and he has said she didn't want to wear knickers today, so put a nappy on her!
Are we back to square one? How bad is one day back in nappies?

Lazy arse.

Put her back in knickers, she'll be fine. Silly daddy

malfoy · 01/03/2009 12:25

not that bad. The books seem to say it's all or nothing as it leads to confusion.

I used to put my Dcs in nappies when going on long journeys. It didn't confuse them.

agree with malfoy - it's not the be all and end all. I also think that your DP is being a bit lazy and, dare I say it, quite typical.

DH was like this when I was training DS1

merryandmad · 01/03/2009 12:30

I am work at the moment. I have told him over the phone to go get knickers.

He says she has had a dodgy tummy this morning and done two runny poos- I think he is making excuses.

She has only had one accident in the last 2 days. (She is esp good with poos, it is only wees that she sometimes forgets)

Discuss with your husband. He's her parent too. There is no definite right or wrong...but probably being consistent helps.
Sound like you two are working in isolation and not as a team.

If he's not happy to go for potty training right now then maybe wait.

merryandmad · 01/03/2009 12:43

Violet- we have agreed we want to try to get her out of nappies before we go on holiday in May.

He wants her potty trained, but doesn't want to deal with the in between bit.

He put her in nappies this morning (before dodgy poos) - so I think this is irrelevant too

Well it sounds like you are doing well if she has only had a few accidents and you have until May.

Try to have a chat with dp as in my experience it is vital that you are both singing from the same hymm sheet. The last thing you want is a confused dc.

My dh always takes the easy option but when it came to potty training he didn't dare put a nappy back on!

DBXmum · 01/03/2009 17:11

He's simply being an idle swine. They will have accidents and they have to be cleaned up but to put a nappy on because either of them 'want' it is not acceptable. Make him wear one and then tell him that he can be trained when he's mature enough.

My DP did this after DD2 was born, he was taking care of DD1 and put her back in nappies for his own benefit.

I had to potty train her again, really.
