to be told at 32 weeks "oh God, you're so big"
from a work collegue, who by the way is about a size 6!

Of course I'm big I'm pregnant! and I'm only wearing size 10 maternity clothes! Hardly huge, thought I was quite neat myself

The next person who say's I look like I'm about to drop, is going to get slap! (it was the bus driver yesterday)

Sorry needed to get that off my (apparently large) chest

Get used to it I'm afraid!!!!!!!!

I got told that ALL the time, drove me nuts (I'm only 5' so don't have much space to carry a bump), turned out dd was 10lb6oz so no wonder I did look huge.

Ronaldinhio · 28/02/2009 12:04

YANBU

I had either "are you sure there is a baby in there?" or "haha are you sure it isn't twins?"

murder them as a lesson to others

HairyMuff · 28/02/2009 12:05

Its character building for all the other inane comments you'll get when he/she is born

'Is s/he good?', 'Was it painful', etc

Practise a fixed smile in front of the mirror NOW.

Wouldn't mind so much, but this is second baby.... people not as horrible first round. In fact was much bigger first time, lost a lot of weight after dd was born.

Try this one:

On the day I left for maternity leave, the office cleaner popped up and said "Oh, you're pregnant are you. I wasn't sure. You've always been quite big, haven't you!"

I mean - yes, I've always been about a 16 - but not with a great huge football on my belly thanks very much!

piscesmoon · 28/02/2009 12:13

YABU-I don't know why people get so thin skinned about things.

CarGirl · 28/02/2009 12:15

When you are slimmer the bump can look even bigger IYSWIM. Also your tummy muscles are a bit more knackered 2nd time around so I think you tend to look big more quickly.

I had loads of genuine twins questions from complete strangers, in reality the one was as heavy as many twins! I even have twin skin - yuck!

I remember after my first I pinged back into shape into skinny leggings after a week (she was much smaller), you couldn't tell I'd had a baby, sadly wasn't like that after the others.

Deep breath and smile.

katiepotatie · 28/02/2009 12:19

picesmoon - People don't go up to overwieght stranges and say such things, why should emotional pregnant ladies have to put up with it.
and of course I am now also thin skinned I'm so huge remember and stretched

it's just horrible. I was very very depressed and unwell when I was pregnant I just wanted to be left alone not told how huge I looked. complete strangers saying "you must be hot" when it was the daily 30 degree heatwave and your term, they're tring to be friendly but I just wanted to die at the time.

piscesmoon · 28/02/2009 12:24

They are not commenting on your weight, they are commenting on the bump. People have always done it and always will-just let it go!

NotQuiteCockney · 28/02/2009 12:31

I think people can be quite rude to people who are significantly overweight.

purepurple · 28/02/2009 12:44

I annoy everyone at work for constantly moaning that I can't fit in my size 8s anymore cos I weigh 8 and a half stone! I mean 8 and a half stone! I have never weighed so much, except when pregnant, and then I was only 9 stone. Middle age spread is spreading!!!!!

belcantwait · 28/02/2009 12:49

i'd bloody love to be 8 and a half stone

and op YANBU but its par for the course i believe

ABetaDad · 28/02/2009 12:50

katypotatie - I think your work colleague meant it as a compliment.

Enjoy the attention.
