Our local pub is inbetween permanent landlords.

One man temping in there as licensee(he is great)
One man temping as bar man/manager. they have known each other for about 6 months, he came recommended to the licensee by another licensee.

So last week, he opened the safe but not to put the nights takings in but to take the weeks takings and £500 of the licensee#s own money £3000 in total.

It turns out he has a record as long as your arm, has done this several times before and the police are looking for him.

Would it be wrong to find out his name(we just know him as Chris) and post it on here so no licensee's who read this take him on?

That's shocking, I hope they catch him.

Yes it would .It is a shitty thing to happen but you could get into a heap of trouble .

I remember reading in the paper that he was supposed to bank the money and just dissapeared. It was the 5 bells in Newmarket. Its a bit of a coincidence isn't it?

chief problems with posting the name are:

• he's not been charged or convicted of any crime (yet), these are allegations;

• there is probably more than one person of that name.

Don't do it. You are not the police, a judge, a lawyer or Batman. As Edam says, this individual has not been convicted or charged, and if he has a not-uncommon surname then there will be other people of that name, in that area, who don't deserve to be harassed by vigilante fuckwits.

Plus, both you and Mumsnet would be liable and if by any chance you're wrong about this (admittedly doesn't seem so) would be defaming him. From Mumsnet's pov they'd take it down quicker than you can blink anyway, as they'd be equally liable and they don't know a thing about the circumstances.
