if they have nothing better to do than sit on mumsnet thinking up unpleasantries about working mothers and their childcare arrangements to justify their own life choices.

bah!

Pmsl!

Or I would if it wasn't true...

foxytocin · 26/02/2009 11:45

well i hope you have to stick your badge pin through the flesh to wear it.

WouldYouCouldYouWithAGoat · 26/02/2009 11:45

shameless attention seeking bump

Of course!

Tbh, I never get these sahm vs wohm threads like the one we are (I think) refering to. I didn't go back to work because I didn't have a job to go back to, so not really a choice as such. I am quite envious of my wohm at times as they Have A Life and I think their kids get a lot form childcare. I know their CMs and nurseries do more fun stuff with the kids than I do.

Hassled · 26/02/2009 11:52

It's swings and roundabouts, though isn't it? I've done both for long periods - felt guilty and stressed either way.

But what the OP really means is that Judgemental Posters should be banned - and where's the fun in that ?

foxytocin · 26/02/2009 11:52

i am glad dd1's nursery does a whole host of activities that i have not the patience to do with her. we are currently abroad for the second of 3 months and she is missing nursery and her best friend there so much it makes me upset and can't wait for her to get back to her old stomping grounds.

unfitmother · 26/02/2009 11:52

My DS, famous for speaking his mind, told me the other day that SAHMs were 'parasites'! Whilst I drew breath , he qualified it by saying this was for school age children only.

AnnVan · 26/02/2009 11:58

i don't know. According to the guy in the Irish Times, women working caused the recession, and we should all stay at home and ask our husbands for money to do the housekeeping.
So YABU

not

lauren61 · 26/02/2009 11:59

i worked at woolworths.. wont be going back there =p

wannaBe · 26/02/2009 12:04

tbh I don't think the other thread started as a wohm ve sahm thread, as the op had clearly said that cm were better than nurseries. It was only later that one poster's opinions degenerated the thread.

georgimama · 26/02/2009 12:07

I agree with wannabe. It wasn't a SAHM v WOHM thread. It is now unfortunately. I think we may have saved it though by going back to talking about how nurseries can be improved, which is what the (unfortunately phrased) OP was really about.

wotulookinat · 26/02/2009 12:10

I've been both and can see good and bad in being a SAHM and a WOHM. It's up to the person and no-one should try to make another mother feel bad because of her choices.
Sadly, this thread was destined to become a SAHM v WOHM thread.

Wizzska · 26/02/2009 12:31

Mothers should be banned. Troublemakers.

SnowlightMcKenzie · 26/02/2009 12:36

I'd have to be earning shedloads nett to afford childcare for 2 pre-schoolers. At least let me MN whilst in this prison!

ClaraDeLaNoche · 26/02/2009 12:39

Imagine being a SAHM with a full time nanny. There must be some MNers like this. What bliss...

georgimama · 26/02/2009 12:43

I wouldn't want a full time nanny if I was a SAHM. A full time house keeper - yes please.

ClaraDeLaNoche · 26/02/2009 12:43

Oh I would. I would sit with feet up, and when I fancied seeing my fragrant kids I would ring a bell.

susie100 · 26/02/2009 13:17

Georgimama I know 2 women who have a full time nanny and are SAHM (one with a weekend cover too!)

They are exceptionally well groomed, relaxed and look 10 years younger than me

SoupDragon · 26/02/2009 13:23

Well, I'm a SAHM and for 2 whole days a week BabyDragon (3) is in a day nursery and has been since just before she was 2.

[couldn't give a rat's ar$e]

DumbledoresGirl · 26/02/2009 13:24

Ooh yes ban me! I have never been banned before (or commented on working parents' childcare arrangements)

ClaraDeLaNoche · 26/02/2009 13:28

SoupD - do you lie on the sofa or do washing? Please let it be the first one...

georgimama · 26/02/2009 13:33

They probably need to be susie, women like that pay a pretty heavy price I think.

MrsMattie · 26/02/2009 13:35

Yes, ban me. And then when I do go back to work, brand me!
